Blackfoot Valley, Montana, USA Artistic direction and development of an International Sculpture Symposium celebrating the rich natural and industrial heritage of the Blackfoot Valley. Role includes curation, logistics, promotion, fundraising, community awareness, development of artist-in-residence and artist -in-education programmes.

My role includes curation, corporate fund raising, promotion, community awareness, education programme and administration of the artist- inresidency programme. Conservation category 2010 Business to Arts Award 2009 Local Government Award 2007 (LAMA -Public Art Category) Business to Arts Award 2003 Commissioned and curated over 25 permanent and temporary sculptures. Initiated Bord na Mona corporate funding for development of the Sculpture Park. Developed partnerships with Bord na Mona, Offaly County Council, University College Dublin, The Arts Council, The Heritage Council and the Crafts Council of Ireland to fund residency and education programmes. Access to All: initiated the development of wheelchair access to the Sculpture Park. Developed an international artist- in- residence programme in the Parklands. Funded by The Arts Council, Bord na Mona and Offaly County Council. Sculpture in the Parklands selected as a world environmental art destination by Thames and Hudson publication Destination Art. Development and implementation of an arts programme for the International Peat Congress hosted by Bord na Mona at Lough Boora Parklands in 2008. 45 countries were represented at the conference. Strategic plan for the development of an education programme for primary and secondary schools. Strategic marketing plan for the development of the sculpture park. Design and maintain a dedicated website for the sculpture park. Secured funding for Visitors Pavilion, walkways and artists information panels. Commission architect and designers. Work completed 2010. Secured European Union Arts and Culture programme funding in partnership with University College Dublin.

In addition to permanent sculpture and time- based work, the project has commissioned video artists, composers, choreographers, and performance artists to interpret and document this unique landscape, folklore and industrial history etc.

2012-Present Client: Pauls Foundation, Chicago History Museum, Lillstreet Arts Center Project: Bill Frederick Memorial Metalsmithing Studio and Archives Documentation, research, and support in the development of the Bill Frederick Memorial Metalsmithing Studio at Lillstreet Arts Studios. Key Role: Adviser to the Pauls Foundation concerning the estate of Bill Frederick, master silversmith. Worked with the curators at Chicago History Museum in the

identification of tools and important archival documents. Photo documentation of the metalsmithing studio for the Pauls Foundation and Chicago History Museum. Brokered the gifting of the metalsmithing studio tools to Lillstreet Artist Studios, Chicago. Brokered the gifting of scholarships in the name of Bill Frederick for metalsmithing students and the funding of masterclasses at Lillstreet Studios. Ongoing support of the Pauls Foundation and Lillstreet Arts Center in the development of the Bill Frederick Memorial Studio.

Client: The Heritage Council and Offaly County Council Ireland Project: Eco Actions and Insect Festival at Sculpture in the

Parklands
The programme explored the boundaries between art, science and technology. The concept was developed as an imaginative way of engaging with new audiences using the established base of Sculpture in the Parklands and international ecological artist Brandon Ballenge. The programme delivered a series of childrens workshop s and evening public events. Key Role Commissioned international artist/biologist Brandon Ballengee to create large-scale light installation. Grant writing, logistics and planning of Brandon Ballengee residency. Fund raising and sponsorship talks incorporating Lough Boora Parklands Group, Bord na Mona, Offaly County Council and the Heritage Council. Development, coordination and delivery of two-week education programme around Brandon Ballengee Love Motel for Insects. Programme explored the boundaries between art, science and technology. Coordinated design and installation of large-scale light installation. Managed arts education staff and budgets. Commissioned Legitimate Bodies Dance Company to create a new work for public performance at the Love Motel for Insects light installation. Photographic documentation of the education programme and light installation. Curated a touring exhibition of childrens artwork and photographic documentation within the County Offaly library system.

2010

Client: Offaly County Council and Brown University (USA) Project: Brown University MA research programme Residential research project based in and around the Lough Boora Parklands. Students from Brown University worked with members of the local community, interacting with and responding to various scenarios within the arts and heritage sectors of Offaly, The intention of the project was to give students the opportunity to work alongside local government, arts professionals and the local community to explore the multiple impacts of

heritage and community arts initiatives in rural Ireland. Students documented the scenario through sound recording, photography, film, and oral historical research. Key Role Developed links between Lough Boora Parklands, Offaly County Council Heritage Officer and Brown University. Grant writing and fund raising for programme Researched and co-ordinated opportunities for students to engage with the local community.

Created audio and/or video pod casts based on field recordings and interviews. Coordinated accommodation, food and transport during the 10 day research programme.
2009-2010 Client: University of Limerick Ireland Project: Irish World Academy of Music and Dance Official Launch Conception, development and curation of arts programme for opening of Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in 2010. Key Role Research and development of concept for launch of Irish World Academy. Curation and installation of photographic exhibition featuring photographer in residence Maurice Gunning. Curation of Limerick University digital media MA installations. Worked with Irish World Academy Director, architect and project management team in overall development of project. Commissioned visual, digital and sound installations. Liase with members of the Department of the Irish World Academy. Developed concept for catalogue and storyboards. Sponsorship Client: University College Dublin Ireland Project: Trans Form Actions European Union Education and Cultural funding programme that explores Land Art interventions in different scenarios throughout Europe. The project is a collaboration between university archaeology departments and their partners to develop education and cultural tourism opportunities through Land Art interventions. Key Role Coordination and development of programme between Sculpture in the Parklands and UCD. Negotiation of funding for Sculpture in the Parklands programme. Designed and developed 3 -year project scenario.

Curation and commissioning of artists. Conceived Art in the Land conference and performance programme. Production of CD and publications. Managed collaboration between UCD, Sculpture in the Parklands and nine EU partners. Managed on site programmes and interventions at Sculpture in the Parklands throughout the three- year programme. Project: Benedict Tutty Retrospective Exhibition Conception, curation and project management of Benedict Tutty exhibition to coincide with the International Christian Art Conference at Glenstal Abbey. Key Role Research and development of the concept for the exhibition. Curation Photo documentation of over 100 works of art. Production of DVD. Reconstruction of Benedict Tuttys workshop. Development of permanent gallery space for ongoing exhibitions. Development of photo archive. Promotion of exhibition.

Client: Crafts Council of Ireland and Offaly County Council Ireland Project: Patrick Dougherty Sculpture Installation and Education

Development, curation and project management of large scale sculpture installation for world-renowned artist Patrick Dougherty at Sculpture in the Parklands. Key Role: Curation Manage 20 artists and crafts workers over a three-week period during the installation of artwork. Work with Patrick Dougherty concerning idea development and logistics of installation. Public liability insurance for staff and volunteers. Fundraising Development of education programme that provided over 500 primary children from 17 schools with the opportunity to meet the artist, tour the sculpture park and work with an artist to create a temporary artwork on site.

Coordination of room and board for 25 persons working on site throughout the programme. Community programmes and tours including lectures, presentations and arts night. Publications and promotion of event. Coverage included RTE Nationwide, Eco Eye, Radio three, Irish Times, Sunday Tribune, Sunday Business Post, Visual Arts Ireland, Circa and local publications. Sourcing of materials and equipment for project. Coordination of official opening. Liase with Bord na Mona.

Client: International Peat Congress Ireland Project: International Peat Congress Arts Programme Conception, development and project management of Arts programme for the 13th International Peat Congress, Ireland. Congress will host 600 delegates from 45 countries. Art programme will present environmental, video, sound, light and performance programmes by leading Irish and international artists. Key Role Research and development of Arts programme. Curation Liase with Peat Congress organising committee and Bord na Mona. Catalogue and promotional material design and development. Liase with artists. Project management of programme in Sculpture in the Parklands. Offaly County Council and Tullamore Conference Centre. Promotion of Arts programme.

Client: Offaly County Council Ireland Project: Peatlands Conception, development and curation of international exhibition that explores the unique crossroads between the peatlands and contemporary art practice. The exhibition will look at artists who have been inspired by peatland ecology, mythology, archaeology, industry and technology. Client: Kamm Teapot Foundation/Sparta Teapot Museum Sparta, North Carolina USA Project: Documentation and Assessment of Silver Teapot Collection Key Role: Comprehensive review of teapot collection. The teapots were assessed concerning culture, style, manufacture, quality of design, fabrication process, historical reference, provenance and restoration requirements. Written report including curatorial and restoration programme.

Project: Quality Assurance Review in the Department of Ceramics, Glass

and Metals
Key Role: Comprehensive review of the present state of the programme. Appraise self- assessment report provided by each area within the department Interview Department head, lecturers, technical staff and student body. Identify critical resource limitations. Focus on recommendations for improvement within the Department. Present conclusions to the Director of the National College of Art and Design. 2004-2006 Client: Offaly County Council Ireland Project: Stories from a Sacred Landscape Conceived, directed and project managed a 250 page coffee table book featuring the monastic sites of County Offaly. Key Role: Research and development of initial concept. Selection of team for production of book including writer/archaeologists, graphic designer, photographer and editor. Issue of contracts, work schedule and management throughout the production. Liase with Offaly Heritage officer Research and selection of print company for production of book. Art direction. Selection of artwork and photography.

2004-2006

Client: Jorn Ronnau Denmark/Ireland Project: The Scriptorium Project Travelling exhibition by Danish sculptor Jorn Ronnau based on an extraordinary tree, a sacred place, and globally chosen words of poetry. Key Role: Initial research and development of the project with the artist. Logistics for the transport and storage of the 300-year-old Beech tree used for the project. Located workshop space for creation of sculptures. Photo documentation of work in progress. Promotion Liase with Offaly County Council Arts officer.

2000-2002

Client: Bord na Mona Ireland Project: International Sculpture Symposium Initiated, curated and directed the Lough Boora International Sculpture Symposium. Key Role: Initiated, developed and presented the concept to Bord na Mona. Selection of artists to participate in the symposium. Wrote proposal and received funding from Arts Council, Offaly County Council, Bord na Mona, West Offaly Partnership, Offaly Leader programme and the Atlantic Corridor. Developed an education programme around the Symposium. Developed Arts Festival programme for local communities of Ferbane and Kilcormack. Worked closely with Lough Boora Parklands manager and Bord na Mona land division.

Client: Thomas Dolan and Cassandra Lloyd Belmont Mills, Ireland Project: Development of Artist Studios incorporating Creative Glass

Centre at Belmont Mills


The vision of the project was to provide artists working in a variety of disciplines the opportunity to develop their artwork in a creative environment at a reasonable studio cost. Key Role: Research artist studios and creative glass centres in Ireland, UK and the USA. Worked with the owners to develop a vision and objectives for the project Assess the project using the following criteria: economic, heritage, environmental and social. Prepared a feasibility study.

Key Achievements: Initiated and developed a Business Skills course to equip students with professional business, marketing and promotional expertise necessary for setting up a craft design business. Introduced computer and photography modules into course work. Worked with 4th year students in the promotion and presentation of their final year exhibition.
