Yasmin Adi Mr. Hackney English 101: Rhetoric 16 September 2013 Statement of Scope for the Annotated Bibliography Working until your hands bleed is a typical day for an immigrant just to put food on the table and support their family. This is especially hard if one was searching for a job in the U.S. As it is clear, jobs are difficult to find considering the majority of them have little pay to offer. In Gabriel Thompsons Working in the Shadows, he is on a quest to document the hardships there are in being an immigrant while working an exceptionally tough job. It is the Americans who are quick to judge before they can get to know a persons story. This judgment can be classified as ignorance. Of course, no one will be willing to work a deviant job unless they have a reason behind it which, in most cases, Americans dont know of the fact. Even though America claims all men are created equal, the same concept does not apply to the immigrants who have to work harder and live a far more challenging life in order to achieve a lifestyle primarily seen as average to a typical American. This essay will defend the challenges immigrants have to face in order to provide for their families and live a comfortable life. Not only are their jobs difficult, but they must also face the struggle of adapting to a new environment. I will emphasize on the topic of immigrants working within the United States and the significance they take part in to classify us as a successful country. Everyone considers the labor our soldiers do for our country, but what about the other difficult and unmentioned jobs? This isnt fair for the immigrants who dedicate their lives into their jobs just to raise their family with the merely minimum wage they are provided with. But there is much more to this than articles and statistics display. In addition to beholding the troubles these workers face, I will include various examples of the importance they serve us as a country financially and domestically. This selected bibliography includes documents that provide examples of unfair treatment to immigrants and quotes of immigrants themselves defending their stance. The article by Glytsos will mention the un-inclusion immigrants face while taking part in the American lifestyle. There is a lack of sources on the actual immigrants themselves speaking of their unfortunate treatment while living in the U.S., although there are plenty of sources that back up their importance of their presence in the economy as presented in Ewings article. In Scruggs and Farkas articles, it explains the skirmishes the immigrants have to fight in order to survive in a free country. DeLisle portrays the status of importance of having a diverse country and how it serves us as a benefit. In all, these foundations create a visual of the immigrant lifestyle and how Americans are ignorant in understanding their struggles and everyday obstacles.

By extension, she mentions one of the key factors is to tolerate and appreciate the different people who live among us. Moreover, the purpose this article will serve to the reader is to inform them the importance of the different people, traditions, and cultures in our society and how it serves us as a benefit. In Walter Ewing's post "The Economic Ignorance of Immigration Restrictionists," he stresses the importance of immigrants and how they help us run the economy. Indeed, he mainly focuses on the stance of the economy and how it would decline quickly without the immigrants. Ultimately, this will allow readers to see and understand how important everyone in our economy is and how they all play a big role to our lives. Farkas, Steve. "What Immigrants Say About Life in the United States." Feature Story: n. pag. elibrary. Web. 11 Sept. 2013. "Feture Story," by Steve Farkas elaborates on the responses immigrants give about life in the U.S. To put it bluntly, his first major point he explains is there are other obstacles rather than just finding a job to support their family. Similarly, they have to learn new skills and learn a wise way to apply them to their labor. Hence, the job of this article is to provide information to the reader to help them understand the skills it takes to be a successful immigrant living in a free country.

In Nicholas Glytsos's review "Stepping from Illegality to Legality and Advancing towards Integration: The Case of Immigrants in Greece1", he argues that it is a task challenging for anyone to become a citizen and take part in the American lifestyle. In fact, he mentions a key point where immigrants aren't seen as a normal American and they are disclosed from everyone else. Furthermore, this article will serve as a purpose to inform the reader how unfairly these immigrants have to live. Scruggs, Mike. In Mike Scruggs' "Railroading Evangelicals on Immigration Issues: Ignorance Is Not Love," he argues that immigrants have it hard while finding jobs. the thing is they find jobs, but the available ones are terribly hard or dangerous. Considering Americans usually overlook this, this paper shows the reader how hard life really is for the typical immigrant trying to survive in America.
