Selected Academic Research Projects

FEA framework for coupling continuum models with micro-structural models of open-cell Aluminum foams Developed Non-Linear FEA code in Matlab for capturing geometrical as well as material non-linearity in large transient deformations. Implemented computational homogenization and averaging, concurrent hierarchical global-local coupling, high-order gradientbased constitutive theories. Estimation of Stress Concentration Factor of polytetraouroehtylene gaskets used in pipe anges in oil & gas industry Performed Linear static FEA using Patran as pre/post processor for Nastran solver. Redesigned the geometry to redistribute stresses and stress concentration without much aecting the original size of specimen and hence developed method to reduce costs incurred in testing specimens. Determination of Elastic Constants of Plain-weave Composites using Iso-Strain Model Programmed in Matlab to model plain-weave composites under in-plane tensile loadings to determine the Elastic Constants using the Iso-Strain Model. Analyzed the performance for the congurations of single lamina considering the tension-bending coupling eect in single lamina composite. Dynamic Study of a rigid rotor elastically supported in axial and lateral directions Understood autoparametric resonance phenomenon in rotating machines. Explored dependence on model parameters e.g. mass, moment of inertia, rotational speed etc.
