Comparative Analysis of American Healthcare & Canadian Healthcare Students Name Instructors Name Course Title Date

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS Introduction Healthcare is often been the interesting as well as renowned topic within Canada and America. There have been several more differences, similarities, strengths along with weaknesses both nations possess and also how health care system affects economy of both the nations along with this essay would outline all of those aspects about healthcare by the historic adventure. Affects of healthcare on economy Affects of healthcare may be seen within economy of both the nations. Health care has been the bigger part of the economy of the Canada, forming greater than 10% of nations

aggregate GDP and yearly building more than 2 million jobs. It improves the health results along with keeps nation wealthy. Within America, health care system contributes to around Eighteen percent of its GDP. Out of all developed nations within world, it has been the biggest percentage. Canada gives universality access for the health care to its citizens, where as approx 1 in 5 non elderly Americans has been un-insured. Canada has been spending far less of GDP on the health care such as 10.4%, 16% in US, still yet performing better than US on 2 commonly cited health result measures, infant mortality rate as well as life expectancy (Comparing the U.S. and Canadian Health Care Systems, 2013).

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS Origin

Within Canada, universal health insurance had been established in the year 1948 however dawn of the health insurance initially started at the provincial level, while Constitution Act had been passed, granting federal along with provincial government split responsibility for the hospitals, asylums, quarantine as well as charities in the year 1867. Within America, on the contrary, things had been going in much different direction. In the whole start of 20th century, several damaging problems along with controversy happened. 30 ago, there has no particular difference in provision of the health care in Canada as well as US, since 1971, though, these 2 countries gone in separate sides with separate outcomes (THE POLITICS OF CANADA'S HEALTH CARE SYSTEM, 2013). Strengths and weaknesses Both the systems took totally separate routes along with all of events, which happened in past helped to form systems we have been familiar with nowadays. With all it has now been called of every healthcare, of course there have been certain flaws in the both. For example, as Canadian Healthcare system has been universal along with generally free thanks to tax payers, average waiting list time for the elective treatment and referral from the practitioner within ten provinces has been approximate 17.7 weeks. It has been the problem as urgency of surgery, which has been required a patient may not be reached being the outcome of waiting list. Elective surgery has been utilizing more surgical resources given through hospitals; thus resources required for the vital surgeries have not been present, forming the waiting list.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

American healthcare has the large amount of strengths along with weaknesses. As system has been importantly given through the private corporations, while the surgery has been required along with we have money for paying for such surgery, we do not have to wait as long along with resources required have been present. Also those strengths however there have been weaknesses, which follow. Employer plans have not been portable to worker. When they switch jobs, this means that they switch insurance. Those who have been with the stable job do not have the total coverage due to employers expectance about that individual leaving. The life expectancy has been longer in Canada and infant mortality rate has been lower than US (Healthcare In Canada vs Healthcare In The United States, 2013). Conclusion When researching separate healthcare systems about Canada along with America I have learned several I did not know of how every system works. I have experienced history of Canadian healthcare as well as how this came to be by the provincial level as well as I had been capable of experiencing American healthcare lifestyle along with how entire concept of universal healthcare had been perceived like the socialist concept. Individually, I prefer a system we have here within Canada, due to the fact that this has been free and universal to each & every citizens of Canada. I could not be capable of dealing with burden of being in debt due to my unfortunate sickness. I do not mind waiting on the list for the treatment, as long as I do not need to take money out of my pocket along with pay! I am very proud to be the citizen of Canada along with having privilege of saying that I do not have to straightly pay for my healthcare.
