Material/Equipment Needed: Book Arthur's Missing Tooth by Lillian Hoban

Preparation (What do you need to do beforehand?): The supplies and preparation needed beforehand the activity is I will put the book on the table until it is time to read the book to the children. Procedures (step by step) Be Specific *Beginning (How will I introduce activity) I will introduce the activity to the children during circle time. This is going to be a

small group activity the maximum children in this activity will be four children. The words that I will say to create interest and desire for the children to participate in this

activity is, I will ask the children questions like, have you ever had a lost tooth? I will ask questions to the children that they can relate too. I will introduce the activity to the children by showing the book to the children and

asking them why they think the book might be about . Yes there is guidance and safety issues that I need to make sure that the children are

aware of like for example I will let the children know to be careful with the book so that the pages in the book would not rip I will get the children started with the activity by me telling them that its story time then I

will read the book to the children *Middle: (How will I support/enhance/scaffold?) The person reading your lesson plan should be able to identify what you are saying or doing to support your stated learning objectives. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. The additional materials that I will have in handy to expand and enrich the experience is, some activities laid out on the table so that the children can go do them after I have finished reading the book

I will support the children as they begin to use the materials is by asking the children

what they found to be the most interesting part in the story. - (another way that I will support the child as they begin to use the materials is, I will ask the child to identify the letter in their name in the book). I will also ask the child what was their favorite part of the book? The open ended questions that I will ask the children to stimulate thought and

conversation are, what do you think what will happen next in the story or what do you think happened to Arthurs lost tooth? - Another question that I will ask the child, is to tell me what they remembered about the story. the reason why I will ask the child this is to see what they remembered about the story and if they can recite a part of the book. - (one of the ways I will help encourage the child to work together with his/her peers is, I will ask the child to help each other identify the words and the letters that are in the book). I will encourage the children to work together by telling them to talk to each other and

explain to each other what happened in the story. - I will ask the child how they felt about the book story. The additional materials that I will have in handy to expand and enrich the experience is, I will support individual children by asking each child what they liked most about the

some activities laid out on the table so that the children can go do them after I have finished reading the book. - I will ask the child what activities they think that they should do about the activity in the book

*End: How will I bring this activity to a conclusion and transition to the next activity? Be very specific in how you will transition the children. I will give the children a twenty minute warning before it is time to clean up. I will remind the children every 10 minutes that it is almost time to clean up. I will involve the children in the cleanup process by telling the children to pick up the toys. so we can look for the Arthurs lost tooth. I will transition the children to the next activity by telling the children to pretend that they are Arthur. The children will go to the restroom to wash their hands then they will go to the table to eat their snack. The teacher and the student helper will help the children transition, I will tell the children to pretend to be author looking for their lost tooth while the children are going to their next activity which will be circle time.

Throughout the day/week, what opportunities will the children have to reflect back on this activity? Throughout the day and week I will plan activities that will relate to the same topic that the children did on the activity such as, painting their own tooth on a piece of paper of what they though Arthurs tooth looked like or they can paint or draw a picture of their own tooth. I will also ask the children questions about the activity so I can know what they remembered about the activity
