After generating high levels of interest at 6 other London universities, the Breaking the Silence genocide awareness campaign reached St Georges Universit on the !6th of "ovem#er$ Situated in a student hu# outside St Georges Li#rar , the e%hi#ition attracted students and staff from all disciplines and mem#ers of the ad&acent St Georges 'ospital$ (vocative paintings and posters outlining the ongoing genocide and human rights a#uses of the )amil nation caused man

passers*# to stop and discuss the situation in Sir Lanka with mem#ers of the St Georges )amil Societ $ +assers*# where asked if the had watched the recent ,hannel documentar "o .ire /one, and asked to provide their reactions to the documentar that suggesteat the highest levels in Sri Lanka were responsi#le for the atrocities committed against )amils$ 0ne said, )he documentar overall was e%cellent at raising awareness of what happened during the war$ )he grim pictures and videos show how gruesome the attacks were and how the were directed$1 Another e%pressed the need for &ustice and a political solution that stopped the continued atrocities, stating, Awful human rights a#uses taken place, this is deepl distur#ing$ )he perpetrators must #e put to &ustice and a political solution needs to #e put on the ta#le to promote e2ualit in Sri Lanka )amils$1 Several students were stunned # the magnitude of the genocidal atrocities committed against the )amil people and stressed that the international communit had to act to resolve the situation$ 3eflecting on the Breaking the Silence4 e%hi#ition, the St Georges Universit )amil Societ president, outlined the importance of holding such e%hi#itions, stating, 5)hroughout the da , man have asked me a#out what we were hoping to achieve # holding this e%hi#ition and how we #elieve we can make an impact$ 6 opinion is that, our main prerogative is to raise awareness and seek &ustice for what has happened as a matter of urgenc $7 5,allum 6acrae elo2uentl phrases the importance of raising awareness in one of his interviews8 Getting the truth out is a precondition for &ustice, &ustice is a precondition for peace and reconciliation$1 59t is important to raise awareness that the people in Sri Lanka have suffered so much in the past and are still suffering$ )here must #e hope for a peaceful future$ 9t is imperative that &ustice must #e sought and we can hopefull contri#ute to this process # revealing the truth to the general pu#lic1d that people
