(f the *tore doesn,t notif ou of the problem) then this tutorial pro$ides ou with a list of troubleshooting steps to follow to fix our Metro *tore apps and tiles that do not open) wor%) or respond in Windows 8) Windows RT) Windows 8. ) and Windows RT 8. .

Note *tart at and do step to see if ou need to continue with the other steps or not. *ometimes step - will be able fi! this without ou ha$ing to do an thing else. .e sure that the affected app is completel !losed before testing to see if wor%s after appl ing a step in the tutorial below.

Windows " will need to be acti$ated before the *tore and apps will wor%. 9hec% to ma%e sure Windows " is still acti$ated. (f Windows " will not acti$ate online) then ou can acti$ate Windows 8 &) phone instead.

(f ou use an (nternet pro! ser$er that re:uires authentication) ou ma encounter problems when ou use apps that connect to the (nternet. *ee' Using authenticated pro! ser$ers together with Windows "

-. Restart the ,. or Restart /xplorer

(f the e!plorer process is running ele$ated ;e!' restarting e!plorer with ele$ated .bat file<) then all modern U( ;a%a' Metro< screens and apps cannot open. (nstead) ou would get the 0#his app can,t open0 error message below. Restarting the P9 or e!plorer will ha$e the e!plorer process run unele$ated again.

0. .annot &e Signed in to the 'uilt1in /le(ated %Administrator% A!!ount

When ou are signed in to an ele$ated account li%e the built=in &dministrator account) the *tore and apps will not wor%. (nstead ou would need to sign in using a Microsoft account in step > below.

2. 3se a Mi!rosoft A!!ount

(f ou are not alread ) ou will need to either be signed in to Windows 8 or the Store with a Microsoft account to be able to download and install apps from the *tore belonging to that Microsoft account on the current account) or to be able to use an app ;e!' *% 3ri$e< that uses a Microsoft ser$ice.

4. Set S!reen Resolution to Minimum of 5"- 6width7 x 428 6height7

#he *tore and apps re:uire a minimum screen resolution of -547 ! 7?" to wor%.

8. .onne!t to the +nternet

#o be able to ha$e li(e tile updates) install) or update *tore apps) ou will need to ha$e an acti$e internet connection.

(f ou do not ha$e a 8rd part firewall program installed) the 0Windows Firewall0 ser$ice must be set to 0&utomatic0 and running ;start< or it will pre$ent ou from installing and using an *tore apps.

". Set Apps to &e Trusted in *rd ,art) Anti(irus ,rogram

(f ou ha$e a 8rd part &@ program installed) then chec% it,s settings to ma%e sure that an *tore app not wor%ing is changed to be trusted. (f the &@ program has the app as untrusted) then it will bloc% and pre$ent the app from opening.

*. Set .orre!t Time and 9ate

9hec% to ma%e sure that ou ha$e the correct time and date and time =one set for our P9) s)n! with internet time) and restart our P9.

-. 3pdate )our Apps

Ceeping our *tore apps up to date with the latest $ersion is one wa to ma%e sure that the %eep wor%ing. #hese updates contain important bug and securit patches. /ou+ll see a notification in the *tore whene$er an update is a$ailable for our app.

0. .lear Store .a!he

(f ou are ha$ing issues with installing or updating ;step -7< *tore apps) then clearing the *tore cache to reset it ma help allow ou to afterwards.

2. S)n! App ;i!enses

(f a license for an app is out of s nc with the license installed on our P9) the app might stop wor%ing.

4. Re1register the Store App

#his is for when the *tore app ma not start) number of a$ailable updates still show on tiles) and starting an app ma show a progress ring but ma not finish loading. /ou can do this b cop ing and pasting the command below in a !ommand prompt) and pressing 1nter. 9ode'

8. Turn :ff %Morphologi!al Filtering% in .atal)st .ontrol .enter 6...7

(f ou ha$e &M3 graphics with the 9atal st 9ontrol 9enter ;999< $ideo dri$ers installed) then double chec% in 999 to ma%e sure that ou ha$e Morphologi!al Filtering unchec%ed to be turned off. (t has been reported as causing issues with some apps being able to open when turned on.

8. 3ninstall and Reinstall the App

(f our apps are up to date ;step -7< and the licenses are s nced ;step -?<) ou can reinstall the app in to tr to fi! the problem.

Refreshing Windows " should be used as a last resort. & refresh will %eep all ou personal data) Metro *tore apps) important settings from the P9) and reinstall Windows. & refresh will not %eep an installed des%top programs. *ee lin% for more details.

Fello e$er one) ( am new in this forum so ( apologiAe in case ( am not posting this in the right section. ( upgraded from Windows 7 Premium to Windows 8 ,ro 2-&it in m Asus 3*2S> and for a while e$er thing went well and ( was reall enGo ing the new *tart screen in Windows ". &t some point all the apps stopped wor%ing e!cept form those directl related to the des%top. #he store seems to be opening but then ( get bac% to the start screen without touching an thing and the store remains 0open0 in the bac%ground. News and finance app get li$e updates ;( can see them updating from the start screen< but ( still can not open them. ( can ha$e access to the *ettings &pp. ( ran the Windows Store App troubleshooter but it doesn,t sol$e the problem. ( tried with the sf!?s!annow function in the comand prompt and it detected some errors related to the 9.* log) but then ( used the dism?online?!leanup1image?restorehealth function and e$er thing was sol$ed ;the scan does not detect an errors<. ( acti$ated Windows ". ( am not using an 8rd part anti$irus ;although ( am using Ad(an!ed S)stem .are 2 and ..leaner to %eep the computer clean<. ( acti$ated the &dministrator account and ( am using a Microsoft account ;HHHIli$e.com< and the computer is listed on the trusted de$ices. *creen resolution is *22 x 428 and ( am running with an n@idia >eFor!e 2 5M 1 >'. #he *tore reminds me that ( ha$e to update some apps but since it is not wor%ing ( can,t do that. ( ha$e a problem with m start screen where the customise tile option doesn,t actuall do an thing. ( clic% on a tile) clic% customise and then the tile gets deselected. ( also ha$e a problem with the modern U( P9 settings) clic%ing on an thing Gust ta%es me bac% to the start screen.
