What is considered as corruption in the United States?

The corruption on our education system has been increasing over the years. As stated earlier in the text corruption can be in several different forms. There are also many reasons why the education system can be corrupt. As stated by (Rumyantseva, N. L pg. 82) corruption is the abuse of authority for material gain. Corruption can appear in many different ways; there can be corruption in order to gain some sort of materialistic thing such as money, tickets, and other materialistic things. In (Sean Coughlan, 2013) the article talks about how corruption is a very serious issue and undermines schools. As stated in his article there are different types of corruption which are to accept bribes which is money in order to be accepted to a school or even get a passing grade. There is also a graduate tail which is basically degree mills that produce fake degrees. These mills provide degrees to people who are not qualified to do certain jobs but acquire these qualifications with these bogus degrees( Chris Parr, 2013). As stated in the article by (Sean Coughlan) this can be a very dangerous thing in our society for the reason that employers are giving jobs to certain people who are not even qualified in the field they are currently in. Another way that is considered corruption would be to curve the National Assessment of Educational Progress exams stated by (Patrick J. Buchanan). Schools are lying and deceiving the U.S educational establishment. Schools are providing false information and not giving the accurate information to the U.S educational establishment. This would be considered another form of corruption according to (Patrick J. Buchanan). For example (Patrick J. Buchanan) says that in the National Assessment of Educational Progress exams it showed that the share of students lacking even basic reading skills has risen by a third, from 20 percent to 27 percent, and only 35 percent of high school seniors have reached a proficient level in reading, down from 40 percent. The Bush-Kennedy No Child Left Behind Act mandates that all children should reach a proficient level of academic achievement by 2014 says (Patrick J.

Buchanan) as well as the government failing Under George W. Bush, U.S. Department of Education funding has risen 92 percent in six years, from $35.5 billion in 2001 to $68 billion in 2007. Sinking test scores are what we have to show for it To the schools that do receive funding from the Department of Education it has failed the people and America (Patrick J. Buchanan) .The corruption in these schools is becoming a growing problem to the education system. The education system can be put in a place where there has to be fraud is said by (Chris Parr, 2013). Schools are often under pressure to maintain certain scores or percentages in the system they are running. Some schools have no choice but turning to fraud in order to meet standards. It is said by (Chris Parr, 2013) that schools The very structure and culture of colleges and universities, as well as the current constraints under which many operate, can create conditions that facilitate fraud," this adds to the corruption in the education system because they have no other way to turn too. "As the global economic crisis heated up over the past few years, public money for education declined in many countries, causing some colleges and universities increasingly to depend on the generosity of private donors." This is said by (Chris Parr, 2013) what he means by this is that the economy doesnt help the education system by the way it is now, schools depend of private donors and if there isnt any private donors then there is no funding for the school and thats when they have to turn to corruption. Corruption isnt always bad corruption it can be used for good things but most of the time explained by the news articles presented it is used in a bad way that can affect many people and not just people but a whole community as well. Corruption in the education system can be in many different ways and forms and be performed by different people in the education system from the Board of Education to the teachers giving instruction. These are ways that are viewed as corrupt by the people. These are just some ways
