Hosting Area Network Services

The Hosting Area Network (HAN) is the networking infrastructure used to provide connectivity between Savvis Intelligent Hosting servers as well as connectivity to Private VPNs (Layer 2 & 3) and the greater Internet
There are 5 types of HAN services:
Load Balancing, SSL Acceleration and Firewall capabilities to servers in the HAN HAN Ports physical ports on the HAN networking switching fabric VLANs tagged or untagged virtual local area networks allowing servers to communicate with each other Bandwidth public Internet access Customer Access Extension (CAE) wired connections from HAN to Colocation data center space

Some HAN services are bundled with the Intelligent Hosting product
One free VLAN per customer per data center One 100 Mbps HAN Port is bundled with each Intelligent Hosting server and two GigE HAN Ports are bundled with HP blade frame system

TCP Port check and Ping tests query the server to ensure the server responds and cost 1 credit
Alarm is created if host does not respond

URL Monitors interact with web servers to check if a host responds correctly and cost 2 credits
