1) The opportunity to serve my country and to be a part of a community of people that put service before self.

2) The goal is to be the world's greatest and most efficient Navy. To reach this goal we stay an active contributor to global communities and provide training and development to those in need. The language used within the Navy helps achieve our goal by allowing Sailor's to communicate effectively both ashore and afloat to ensure the highest level of effectiveness. 3) the terminology begins to make sense after basic training, but makes more sense after being on board a ship. Being on the ship helps tremendously since that is where the language was derived. *here is what I have so far, how does it look?

4) October 1775, the language has changed over time as technology and the community evolved. As more things came available to the fleet, new additions to the culture of the Navy and the language, new terminology was incorporated into our daily lives. 5) the Navy is a very inclusive group. It is also very diverse, as Sailors, we are expected to learn new skills regularly to keep ourselves competitive within our own ranks. 6) in my opinion, the most important and influential figures of our community is the Chiefs Mess. They pave the way for junior enlisted and provide training for junior officers to ensure that our tradition and professionalism is unmatched. 7) it takes hard work and dedication to move up in rank. The ability to move up solely

relies on the individual and their devotion to developing the skills required to ascend to the next rank. 8) outsiders typically have a skewed view of the Navy. The Navy has a dark history of rowdy and disorderly behavior. Today's leadership is trying to stray from that stereotype and develop a new, more professional and advanced community through in depth training that they start at the lowest level. Also, enforcing much stricter punishment and zero tolerance for undesirable behavior of Sailors. The language used within the Navy has very little impact on the way outside individuals view our community. In my opinion, it is the actions of our community that impact the vantage point of civilian communities or other branches of service. Our language was developed as a way to communicate in a shipboard environment, almost like a slang or jargon. It has little bearing on how we are viewed by other communities.

I hope this helps, if you need anything else let me know. If any of my answers are too vague or not what you were looking for, shoot me a text and I will do my best to help you out.
