1984 is a classic George Orwell book which will never become outdated because of its topics it brings up which today is more and more exposing itself such as the NSA spying on everybody domestically and internationally. This book is separated into three sections which the first is the awakening, the rebellion and finally the re-education. The Awakening introduces us to the foundation of the Oceania society. We quickly find out that Oceania is not like any normal society, it has more corruption than politics. Oceania is always at war; it tortures its own people and is always spying on its citizens. Its main tool is that it has two dimensional tele-screens that broadcast two ways so that way everybody is under observation .Winston is the main character who works at the ministry of truth that is ironically not very truthful, his job is that he changes documents to make them conform to the parties new version of reality; this can only provoke rebellion against Big brother. The party lives by the slogan War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery and Ignorance is strength. This is only more proving of the nature of political power each country wants to have over its people. The Oceania government has control of its peoples body, mind and heart. Winston starts to hate Big brother and is looking for some others to help him rebel against the power driven party that wants to destroy peoples nature of reality and the process of reason. Winston meets pretty women named Julia who slipped him a note stating that she loves him and they start having sex to rebel against the party which is the best rebellion I ever heard of. Winston also meets OBrien who seems to be another rebel against the party but is later turned into the thought police by OBrien. The government not only wants to control human satisfaction but the role of language by Newspeak which is created by combining old words with

new meanings, such as very bad becomes double plus un-good. Rebellion ends with an unknown voice coming from a tele-screen while in a room, an army of men in black uniforms known as the thought police storm in and start beating the two of them and takes them away to the Ministry of Love. The ministry of love is where they re-educate the political prisoners. Winston wonders what happens to his lover Julia and acquaintance OBrien. Surprisingly, O Brien shows up and reveals that he has been working for the party and is actually the one who is in charge of Winstons torture. The tortures main goal is to re-educate the mind, heart and soul to accept the Big Brother reality. This is where double think happens such as believing nonsense with the lie being one step in front of the truth, such as Winston believing he committed crimes that he never attempted. OBrien reminds Winston of the slogan; whom controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past. OBrien sends Winston to room 101 where the prisoners worst fears become reality and Winstons is rats which the party attaches a cage full of rats to his face and his loyalty to Julia stays strong until this point and he starts screaming Do it to Julia, Do it to Julia.
