Thursday 16 August 2012 7.30 - 8.30 Breakfast (For persons staying at Tohoku Area Disaster Volunteer Center there will be a free bus to bring them departing at 7:15am, to have breakfast at Espol Miyagi, every day except check out day) 7.40 - 8.25 Registration desk open 8.30 18:00 Bus Trip from Espol Miyagi Expected sites of field trip include sightseeing in Matsushima (one of the 3 famous sights of Japan) in the morning and visits to the coastal tsunami affected former residential areas of Natori (including Yuriage and/or Nakano elementary schools in the afternoon). Talk with students and parents, and visit to temporary housing area for those who lost family members and/or houses. An Explanation Meeting may be held during this day at a community meeting hall/school hall , which will include orientation to the workshop, and some experiences from the tsunami affected communities and those who are involved in rebuilding the community. can be involved in because the areas have been cleared of debris, and we have consulted with the local community about potential activities for a one day visits. 19:00-21:00 Group Work on Action Plan Drafting Groups work together with facilitators (including the non-youth) number could be 10-25 groups (of 2,3,4 plus persons each). Action plan implementation team members can include those not present. How to apply? There is no application fee. Applications to participate should take the form of an expression of interest email composed by you that outlines (in less than 500 words) why you would like to participate in this forum, post-disaster activities you have been involved in, and/or suggestions for an action plan to develop with other participants. Please also explain what you have learnt from facing a disaster in your community.
