Dear Marius You recently asked someone to contact you regarding your Engineering degree plans. Your request was passed on to the Pathway tutors on the Engineering Student Support Team, Laura Alexander, Peter McGuigan and Andrew Kowalczyk. We are all Chartered Engineers who tutor on various OU Engineering Modules, so should be able to help. I have checked over your plan, which seems fine so far. Regarding the IMechE additional requirements, see the links on http://engineering.open.ac.uk/accreditation for more details of your options. You still need 2 residentials 60 credits at a minimum of level 2 eg T211, or MS221 plus another module such as T213. plus 60 more credits at level 3 eg T307, or MST326 and T356 plus T450 plus T397 and you have all this in your plan, it meets all the current IMechE and OU BEng requirements. As you will see from the list on the website, you have various options, and there will be new modules coming along over the next 2 years, notably T213 and T318 to replace T206. The one thing you might want to consider is doing another maths module at level 2 rather than T211, as this will stand you in good stead for Mechanical engineering. You do not need to study T211 to study T307. Note that if you did want to study MST326, you need to do MST209 beforehand. Some students choose to do MS221 and MST209 at level 2, this does mean an additonal 30 credits of level 2 study, but allows you to meet all the IMechE requirements and include fluid mechanics in your BEng. same time with M121 Using Maths, and completed T173, T207, T357), and I try to finalise a certain pathway to the degree. I have been awarded last year with 30 credits from my previous studies (Mechanical Engineering - Romania, 1994) which I would like to use against free choice course at Level 1. Also, I registered last month as a student member with IMechE, being interested in a Mechanical Engineering degree and later on to become a full member. Could you please advise if the chosen path satisfies OU & IMechE requirements and if there are any other issues that I need to be aware of at this stage.
