CHAPTER III RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents and describes the method and techniques used in the collection of data. This include the research design, the research local, the respondent and instrument of gathering of percentage and mean.

Research Design We used the non-experimental descriptive for it has no control or manipulation over the present existing condition or situation. It deals with the relationship between the independent and dependent variable happening at present and correlating the two for probable relationship. To obtain a general overview of the subject.

Respondents The respondents of the study were the residence in atbunton !t. of "longapo #ity. $s of this year there were %& respondents who were active in using a oral contraceptive pill. $ '&& percent of the respondents are all females. The couples or any single person who has a relationship had been the researcher(s respondents because it will affect their decision on effectivity of oral contraceptive pill for them and to determine the proper method of using it. Research Locale

The research was held at atbunton !t. )ew *alala+e the area was chosen by the researchers as its locale because the researcher is living nearly at this place and for convenience and familiarity. The school had already been aware of the students who used it as their locale for this research. ,istorically atbunton !t. have a population of -& families and has been +nown as atbunton since then. It is a river that have a lots grass.

Data Gathering Tools

The researchers decided to employ a survey questionnaire and informal interview as their research instruments. The structural questionnaire has only two parts, first is the demographic profile of the respondents such as their name, address, occupation, and educational bac+ground. The second part is some questions that are answered by yes or no.

Data Collection .ata gathering involved planning, collecting, organi/ing, analy/ing and interpreting the findings of the study. There are six phases in data collection. The first one is the initial step

involved the preparation and submission of letter to the .ean of #ollege of )ursing for approval. The second phase involved the actual condition of the courtesy call and ocular visit done in the research locale or setting to familiari/e the researchers in the physical setup of the place. The third phase is the actual distribution of questionnaires and interview to the respondents. The fourth phase is to retrieve the questionnaires and collection of permanent data was involved in this phase. The fifth phase is that the data gathered were tabulated, analy/ed and interpreted. 0astly, the sixth phase is that the data were subjected to statistical treatment.

Data Statistical Treatment

$ll data will be gathered, tabulated and analy/ed. The statistical treatment will be used in the interpretation and testing of the null hypothesis of the study are frequency counts and percentage.

A !re"#enc$ Distri%#tion

$ systematical arrangement of numerical values from the highest to the lowest number of count. This is used in tallying of respondents to specified criteria or category.

& Percentage Distri%#tion It is the division of each category or class frequency by the total number of respondents then multiplied by '&&. This utili/ed in relation to frequency distribution in determining the percentage value of a given criterion from the total number.
