DriveMonitor, the start-up tool for drives of the SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES range, has undergone further development and the new version V5.2 now offers many new functions and input screens. Highlights of the innovated DriveMonitor User-friendly welcome screen Input screen for simple positioners Drive control panel PROFIBUS diagnostics screen Overview diagnostics screen Figure 1: The user is now greeted by DriveMonitor with a simple and extremely clear welcome screen. From here the user can navigate as shown to functions such as Guided initial start-up Guided start-up Technology functions Loading standard applications. Figure 2: The new screens stored in the DriveMonitor are input screens for the simple positioner that is included as standard in the MASTERDRIVES Motion Control units. The simple positioner can be configured, operated and diagnosed quickly and easily using the new screens.

Figure 3: The overview diagnostics screen can also be called from the welcome screen. This informs the user at a glance about active warnings, faults, unused computing time, firmware versions, converter temperature, currents, voltages, etc. Figure 4: The new PROFIBUS diagnostics screen shows, at a glance, what is happening on the bus and how the bus topology is configured. The drive control panel that is shown in the bottom of the figure enables users to control the drive from their own engineering PC through the uniform tool interface that has been newly integrated in the MASTERDRIVES units. Priority for operator control can be transferred to the engineering PC at any time regardless of the configured communications path. DriveMonitor is now executable on the Windows XP operating system. Apart from the free of charge stand-alone version, it is also a permanent feature of Drive ES Basic. Where a SIMATIC S7 is being used, Drive ES Basic can be integrated as an option into SIMATIC STEP 7. This means that project engineering and start-up can be performed for the drives in the familiar environment of the SIMATIC automation systems (SIMATIC Manager). With the new DriveMonitor functionalities, the engineering outlay in terms of configuration, start-up and service can be significantly reduced! DriveMonitor is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
