1.1.1 Background

Introduction

This document is intended for the iManager M2000 AP Manager V100R002.

The 3G indoor coverage problems such as high frequency band and poor penetration always present subscribers and operations with difficulty. The wide application of 3G requires the operator to provide quality radio signal coverage. It is, however, difficult to ensure high indoor signal quality because buildings can block radio signals. Indoor signal coverage is completely different from outdoor signal coverage. Outdoor coverage features the plane coverage in large areas. The 3G applications required by subscribers in indoor areas such as home and small office and home office (SOHO) feature small capacity and mini-area. The required mode for indoor coverage is dot coverage. When attempting to solve the indoor coverage problem, the operator must consider the operation expenditure for installation and maintenance, apart from the capital expenditure on equipment.

Based on the characteristics of indoor coverage and user requirements, Huawei develops the uBro solution to solve the problem about the indoor coverage of 3G signals.

1.1.2 Network Architecture

Figure 1-1 shows the network architecture of the uBro solution.

Table 1-1 lists the NEs that are newly introduced to the uBro solution. Table 1-1 Newly introduced NEs in the uBro solution Equipment AP Function The access point (AP) provides access to the UMTS network. It provides the functions such as radio modulation and demodulation, radio resource management, and power control. The access gateway (AG) is located on the operator's Intranet. It controls and manages APs and provides routes to other NEs. The AP home register (AHR), which is the home server of APs, is placed on the operator's Intranet. It stores the location information of UMTS APs, account information, and MS access control list. The AP Manager is the AP management system. It allows you to manage APs in a centralized manner. The authorization, authentication, and accounting (AAA) server authenticates the identity and authority of a user and records the user's activities.

1.1.3 Benefits
Benefits for the Operator
By using APs, the operator can obtain the following benefits:

The operator can effectively solve the problem about the indoor coverage of the UMTS network, thus better fulfilling the users' requirements for 3G services. The expenditure for installing and maintaining the uBro system is low. The uBro system supports automatic software upgrade and configuration, and automatic network planning. Therefore, the uBro system can be rapidly and widely deployed by the operator.

Benefits for Terminal Users

By using APs, terminal users obtain the following benefits:

Terminal users can enjoy 3G network services of higher quality at a lower price at home because the uBro system does not occupy the radio access resources of the NodeB. The UMTS AP supports user license management and access control. This prevents an AP from being used by an unauthorized UE. Thus, the expenditure on APs is effectively reduced.

1.1.4 Introduction to the AP Manager

The AP Manager is a platform developed by Huawei to manage APs. On this platform, you can manage Aps easily in the uBro system. The AP Manager provides the following functions:

Configuration management Software management Fault management Task management Security management Log management

AP Manager Product Description(AP)

Integrated Processing Platform

The AP Manager adopts the Advance Telecommunications Application Environment (ATAE) hardware platform. The ATAE hardware platform, which is developed by Huawei, is a professional and highly integrated carrier-class platform with high performance. Dedicated to telecommunication applications, the ATAE platform incorporates the carrier grade Linux (CGL) technology to implement the large capacity, high performance, high reliability, and high scalability.

Operation Interface Base on the Web

The AP Manage provides a web-based operation and maintenance interface that allows you to perform centralized operation and maintenance on the AP. The interface is easy to be installed and operate.

Reliable System
The AP Manager operates on the ATAE platform. The stable operation and high performance of the ATAE platform ensures the high reliability of the AP Manager. The system data of the AP Manager is stored on the database of the AP Manager server. The high security and the backup and restore mechanism of the database ensure the high reliability of the system data.

Reliable Software
The AP Manager adopts the 3-layer Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) structure with Enterprise Java Bean (EJB) as the core. The stable and secure JAVA platform ensures the reliability of the AP Manager software. The AP Manager limits the number of login attempts. During a specific period, if the number of successive illegal login attempts of a user exceeds the maximum number of login attempts, the AP Manager locks the user and records the login failure in the security log. After a certain period, the AP Manager automatically unlocks the user. The AP Manager provides the function of prompting you to confirm important or global operations. If no operation is performed within a long period after you log in to the AP Manager, the current user is forced out of the system.

2.1 Overview
The AP Manager uses the browser/server mode.

Architecture

The AP Manager server application runs on the AP Manager server. When managing APs, you can log in to the AP Manager server by using the web browser on your client PC. This chapter describes the hardware and software architecture of the AP Manager system.

2.2 Hardware Architecture

2.2.1 Overview of the Hardware Architecture
A typical AP Manager system consists of the following components:

A server or servers A client or clients Other networking devices

AP Manager server consists application server and database server. If few APs are managed by the system, you can install the application server and database server on the same ATAE server board.

Running the AP Manager server software, the active and standby server blades work together and use the Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) software to monitor and switch over the server resources. The redundancy server of the active server. When the resources on the active server are faulty, the resources can be switched over to the standby server blade through the VCS. Provides high-availability storage space for the active server. When the active server is faulty, the VCS mounts the disk array to the standby server. In the uBro solution, the disk array is shared by the AHR, AP Manager, M2000, and AAA. The AP Manager server and M2000 server shares four disks on the disk array. These disks are made to a RAID 1 + 0 and identified by a logical unit number (LUN). In this case, the data stored on the disk array is secure.

Table 4-16 Requirements for the density of physically active materials Physically Active Material Dust particles Unit Particles/m Density 3 x 104 Ensure that the dust on the desktop is not visible.
Note: Dust particles: diameter 5 m

The density of chemically active materials must comply with the requirements listed in Table 4-17. Table 4-17 Requirements for the density of chemically active materials Chemically Active Material SO2 H2S NH3 Cl2 Unit mg/m mg/m mg/m mg/m Density 0.20 0.006 0.05 0.01

Table 4-18 Work requirements regarding mechanical stress Item Sinusoidal vibration Sub-Item Offset Accelerated speed Frequency range Unsteady impact Impact response spectrum II Static payload Range 3.5 mm 2 Hz to 9 Hz 100 m/s 0 10.0 m/s 9 Hz to 200 Hz

Note: Impact response spectrum: refers to the maximum acceleration response curve generated by the equipment under specified impact excitation. Impact response spectrum II means that the duration of semi-sine impact response spectrum is 6 ms. Static payload: refers to the capability of the equipment to bear the pressure from the top when it is packed in the normal pile-up method.
