ScotRail Franchise SPTE Service Level Commitment

Service 3. Glasgow to Ayr, Ardrossan and Largs.


1. General Note. Services specified in this Section do not include services provided to stations between Glasgow and Ayr as part of the Stranraer service specified elsewhere in the ScotRail Passenger Service Requirement or services specified in Section 1.7 in Route Dl between Ayr and Girvan. 2. Service Pattern - Glasgow arrivals - Monday to Friday and Saturdays. 2.1. Including Early Services, until the end of the Morning Peak period, there shall be nine arrivals from Ayr on Monday to Friday, six on Saturdays, four arrivals from Largs on Monday to Friday, two on Saturdays, and two arrivals from Ardrossan Town so that no interval of more than 29 minutes shall occur between all arrivals. On Mondays to Fridays these services shall omit or add stops between Kilwinning and Paisley Gilmour Street to ensure that the following level of service shall apply from each station listed below. 2.2.1 2.2.2 2.2.3 2.2.4 2.2.5 2.3. Dairy - nine calls Glengamock - eight calls Lochwinnoch - six calls Milliken Park - eight calls Howwood - five calls

One service arriving between 0730 and 0800 shall make an additional stop at Hillington West. Between 1700 and 1930 three arrivals at Glasgow shall additionally stop at Dairy. Two of these services shall call at Glengarnock and one shall call at Lochwinnoch. Between 2200 and the Late Services, all arrivals at Glasgow with one exception shall call at Dairy. On Saturdays arrivals at Glasgow shall omit or add stops at stations between Kilwinning and Paisley Gilmour Street to ensure that the following level of service applies at each station listed below 2.6.1. 2.6.2. 2.6.3. 2.6.4. 2.6.5. Dairy-31 calls. Glengarnock - 39 calls Lochwinnoch-21 calls Milliken Park-35 calls Howwood - 21 calls.

On Saturdays between 0715 and 0730, there shall be an additional arrival from Ardrossan Town not less than 20 minutes before the arrival of the Early Service from Largs, calling at all stations.

2.8.

On Saturdays between 1745 and 2000 there shall be three arrivals from Largs with a maximum interval of 1 hour and 20 minutes.Two of these services shall omit to call at Howwood, two shall omit to call at Lpchwinnoch, and one each shall omit to call at Dairy, Glengarnock, and Milliken Park. On Saturdays between 1715 and 1930 there shall be four arrivals from Ardrossan with a maximum interval of 1 hour calling at all stations. One of these services shall originate from Ardrossan Harbour and another from Ardrossan South Beach.

Service Pattern - Glasgow departures - Monday to Friday and Saturdays. 3.1 On Saturdays departures from Glasgow shall omit or add stops at stations between Kilwinning and Paisley Gilmour Street to ensure that the following level of service applies at each station listed below 3.1.1. 3.1.2. 3.1.3. 3.1.4. 3.1.5. 3.2. Milliken Park- 35 calls. Lochwinnoch - 19 calls Glengamock- 39 calls Dairy-31 calls Howwood - 20 calls.

Between 0600 and the Early Service to Largs there shall be two additional departures with a maximum interval of 1 hour and 30 minutes, calling at all stations. In Summer, the first of these services shall terminate at Ardrossan Town and the second of these services shall terminate at Ardrossan South Beach.. A half hourly service including the Early and Late Services shall be provided between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan South Beach, calling at Paisley Gilmour Street, Johnstone, Milliken Park, Glengamock, Kilwinning, Stevenston and Saltcoats. One service an hour shall call at Howwood, Lochwinnoch and Dairy. Between 1630 and 1745 there may be one interval of up to 45 minutes. Between 0630 and the Early Service to Ardrossan Town there shall be two additional departures with a maximum interval of 1 hour and 50 minutes calling at all stations. The second of these services shall continue to Ardrossan Harbour. Between 1530 and 1800 there shall be four departures to Largs with a maximum interval of 1 hour 5 minutes. Between 1500 and 1830 there shall be four departures to Ardrossan Town with a maximum interval of 1 hour and 35 minutes. One of these services shall serve Ardrossan Harbour.

Between 0745 and the start of the Evening Peak, departures from Glasgow to Ardrossan Town shall call at Lochwinnoch, Glengamock and Dairy so that the maximum interval between calls shall not exceed one hour. Between 1630 and 1800 there shall be two additional departures from Glasgow to Ardrossan Town with an interval not exceeding 50 minutes. One of these services shall continue to Ardrossan Harbour.

Service Pattern - Glasgow to Ayr - Monday to Friday and Saturdays 4.1. A half-hourly service including the Early and Late Services shall be provided between Glasgow Central and Ayr, calling at Paisley Gilmour Street, Johnstone, Kilwinning, Irvine, Troon, Prestwick International Airport, and Prestwick Town. One interval of 50 minutes shall be permitted from Ayr after 2200. One service per hour shall also call at Barassie and Newton on Ayr. Between 1700 and 1730 there shall be an additional departure from Glasgow to Ayr so that the interval between services shall not exceed 20 minutes. This service shall call at Paisley Gilmour Street (to pick up only), Glengarnock, Kilwinning, Irvine, Troon, Prestwick International Airport and Prestwick Town. During the Evening Peak two departures from Glasgow to Ayr shall call additionally at Barassie and Newton on Ayr. For one of these services the call at Paisley Gilmour is to pick up only and it is not required to call at Johnstone and Kilwinning. Between 1645 and 1845, three services departing from Glasgow and calling at Johnstone shall also call at Dairy so that the maximum interval between services at that station shall be 1 hour. One of these services shall also call at Lochwinnoch and Glengarnock.

Service Pattern - Glasgow to Ayr - Sundays. 5.1. An hourly service including the Early and Late Services shall be provided between Glasgow Central High Level and Ayr, calling at Paisley Gilmour Street, Johnstone, Kilwinning, Irvine, Barassie, Troon, Prestwick International Airport and Prestwick Town. No service is required to call at Newton on Ayr. One interval of 1 hour and 20 minutes on departures at Ayr. An additional hourly service shall be provided between Glasgow Central and Ayr from the Sunday within the Spring Glasgow Public Holiday Weekend in late May until the Sunday within the Autumn Glasgow Public Holiday Weekend in September both Sundays being inclusive

This service shall run in conjunction with the normal hourly service until 1845 from Glasgow and until 1915 from Ayr so as to provide departures at half hourly intervals and shall call as the service specified in Paragraph 5.1. with the exception of Barassie. 6. Service Pattern - Ardrossan to Largs - Monday to Friday and Saturdays. 6.1 From Ardrossan South Beach one service per hour shall continue to Largs, calling at West Kilbride and Fairlie. Between 0930 and 1130 there shall be one interval allowed of up to 1 hour and 25 minutes in arrivals at Glasgow Central from Largs. One service from Largs and arriving at Glasgow Central between 1830 and 1845 may omit to call at Glengarnock and Milliken Park, after which one interval of 1 hour 20 minutes shall be permitted before the next service.

Service Pattern - Ardrossan Town services - Monday to Friday and Saturdays. From Ardrossan South Beach one service per hour shall continue to Ardrossan Town. One interval of up to 2 hours is permitted before 0930, and another of 1 hour 35 minutes is permitted between 1600 and 1800. For arrivals at Glasgow one interval of 2 hours shall be permitted between 1730 and 1930.

Service Pattern - Ardrossan Harbour services - Monday to Friday and Saturdays, and Sundays. 8.1. On Monday to Friday and Saturdays, five services in each direction shall be extended to and from Ardrossan Town to Ardrossan Harbour to connect into and out of ferry services. On Summer Sundays, four services in each direction shall be provided between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour calling at Paisley Gilmour Street, Johnstone, Milliken Park, Kilwinning, Stevenston, Saltcoats and Ardrossan South Beach to connect into and out of ferry services. The first such service shall call additionally at Glengarnock and Dairy. On Winter Sundays, four services in each direction shall be provided between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour as described in Paragraph 8.2 except that the first service from Glasgow and the fourth service from Ardrossan Harbour need not operate between October and Late March/April at dates set annually by the ferry operator. The third service from Glasgow and the second service from Ardrossan Harbour need not operate between October and February at dates set annually by ferry operators.

Service Pattern - Glasgow to Largs, Sundays. 9.1. An hourly service including the Early and Late Services shall be provided between Glasgow Central High Level and Largs, calling at Paisley Gilmour Street, Johnstone, Milliken Park, Howwood, Lochwinnoch, Glengarnock, Dairy, Kilwinning, Stevenston, Saltcoats, Ardrossan South Beach, West Kilbride and Fairlie.

11. Maximum Journey Times. 12. Service Pattern -Glasgow Public Holidays. A Saturday service shall provided on all routes in this section. Early and Late Services are defined in paragraph 10. 13. Pre Christmas Sunday Services. Glasgow Central to Ayr - On the four Pre Christmas Shopping Sundays between 0900 and 1800 or at other times as may be agreed with SPTE reasonable endeavours will be made to provide a half hourly frequency. Services shall call as specified in Paragraph 5.1.
