Summit Bike Club

Objective
Summit Bike Club aims to create a holistic mountain biking club in Park City, Utah that teaches cycling skills and fosters the growth of a foundation for lifelong health and wellness through the sport of cycling.! SBC is a club for anyone with previous mountain biking experience and condence in riding singletrack trails. In our inaugural season of 2012, we quickly grew to over 50 members with ages ranging from 7 to over 50. For 2013 we expect a growth in numbers of 50% or more. We split our club rides into several groups based on ability level so that each and every member gets an outstanding experience that ts their level of mountain biking.! SBC gives the opportunity for individuals to nd a love of cycling through rides and social gatherings with friends, family and coaches. Rides are designed to improve skills on all types of terrain; we ride technical trails, challenging climbs, and other skill building terrain like pump tracks, skills parks, and night rides. Our club is also a racing team; many of our members race locally for fun and many are serious, seasoned racers that travel to national events. In 2012 our team riders brought home two national championships, four Utah state championships, three Colorado state championships, and many other wins and podiums. Our members race in all categories from kids to beginners to pros. Many of our high school aged riders have begun participating in the Utah High School Cycling League, and our coaches also coach the Park City High School Mountain Bike Club. This overlap with high school cycling makes it easy for the high school aged riders to race with a team all season long, not just during the fall high school season.! SBC is active in the community through our volunteer work for the Wasatch Trails Alliance and the Mountain Trails Foundation. We also partner with the Summit Ski Team to provide summer conditioning for winter athletes. SBC is a licensed club under USA Cycling and the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and is a non-prot organization run under The Park City Foundation.!

Goals
We learned a lot in 2012 and surpassed all of our goals by a long shot; in 2013 we have raised and rened our goals as a club.! Our expert group of junior (under 18) riders will evolve into an elite development racing team. We will recruit young racers from outside of the Park City area and will be the premiere development mountain biking program in Utah. Our mission will be to guide young riders to successful careers in high school racing, collegiate racing, and ultimately a few will go on to professional careers. Along the way we will instill humility, dedication, and teamwork values that will serve these riders long after their competitive careers end.! Coach Evan Hyde will head up the elite development team and guide their training, riding and racing. This team will train together multiple times per week and in addition to the weekly SBC rides. When riding with the entire club, the development team riders will be acting as assistant coaches, helping the younger and less experienced riders achieve their goals.!
