Meeting dates for 2009 Next Meeting

September 26 Venue: Gourmet on Globe Address: Globe Lane, Wollongong 1.00pm 4.00pm Time: September 26 When: *** Please note 4th Saturday of the Month *** September Topic:

At our last committee meeting AANSW Committee decided to introduce the inaugural Spring Bazaar for our members at the meeting on 12 September. If you have goods you would like to sell please let me know by Wed 9 September. There will be (1) table available for each vendor so just bring a small selection of your goods. If you have a service to offer or simply wish to have a table to display brochures, business cards, etc then please advise me by the above date. To date we have a few vendors wishing to display their goods/services. The tables are free. As we dont have a lot of space it will be first in. This will hopefully be the first of many annual Spring Bazaars. As you can see from the Calendar this month Yasmin Boland is presenting a talk on one of the fixed stars Algol. Yasmin has been doing quite a bit of research and work on this particular talk and my feeling is it will be a good one. Yasmin has presented part of it at SARS but since then has significantly expanded the talk and Im looking forward to hearing about Algol as this star sits on my ascendant. In the second half Anita will facilitate a discussion of some of the other fixed stars so should be a great day. Dont forget we also have our AGM at this meeting but we will get through that as quickly as possible so Yasmin can begin her talk on time. If you are planning to attend the Horary Workshop on 25 October please let us know at the September meeting. We have had a number of expressions of interest but we need reasonably firm numbers so we know if the chosen venue will be big enough for the numbers. There are still members who said theyd like to come but havent filled out the registration form.

First Nets
This months meeting will focus on new work by Steven Forrest known as First Nets. We wont be fishing or turning fish into loaves but you can grab a bite to eat and share in some new ideas from an Evolutionary Astrologer. Presented by our Members who attended a week of learning with Steven Forrest in Salamander Bay and who are now Level 1 Graduates of Stevens Apprentice Program. With Clementine of Aqua Moon

Forewarned is forearmed or so the saying goes. This month lets at least be forewarned. Mercury stations on 6 September and heads off into another retrograde phase on 8 September at 06 Libra 13'. This time my computers backup system is working!!! Of course this trickster will probably have something else up his sleeve to catch me unawares. Checking the house this retrograde period will travel through in your own chart will certainly help you be alert to any mercurial misadventures. With my own eighth house in the firing line I am doing my best to get such things as tax returns and superannuation forms filled out and sent off well before the close down date. Most of us seem to come unstuck in some way or other when Mercury heads backwards in motion. And the effects might not always appear to be in the physical sense. Whilst the winged messenger is in reverse our thoughts and thinking tend to go inwards. We seem to know what we are on about but the ability to give words or meaning to the internal ideas may not come out as clearly as you are thinking them. Herein lies one of the most common drawbacks of Mercury retrograde nobody seems to understand you. With this retrograde period in Libra, relationships are particularly vulnerable, or at least communication between partners might be at risk. Mercury will reverse his position on 29 September stationing direct at 21 Virgo 42' and finally heading off full steam ahead on 30 September. We wont be fully out of the woods until 18 October when Mercury crosses over its retrograde point once again. Between now and then it might pay dividends to be astute in all our dealings with others, watch our words carefully, ask people to repeat back instructions just so you know you are both on the same page. Tedious it may be but it sure as hell beats repairing damaged relationships. Heading off in the opposite direction is Pluto who comes out of retrogradation on 11 September at 00 Capricorn 40'. The last time the Lord of the Underworld highlighted this zodiacal position was 16 December. For those of you with a good memory or a detailed diary entry you may know what occurred on or around this time for you. You may gain some sort of clarification or deeper meaning to whatever was most prominent in your world at that time. Pluto will now stay in forward gear until April 2010, passing over its retrograde point of 03 Capricorn 17' around the same time as the bells toll for the incoming new year. On a mundane level it has been predicted that this dwarf planet will pick up where he left off, exposing government and corporation fraud, lies and secret deals. No doubt the stock market will be in for another bumpy ride especially in the New Year when the master unraveller heads into new territory. Just before we move onto our Moon stories lets finish with the planetary movements for this month. The rush of last month which saw Mercury and Venus change sign twice, Mars move on and even the nodes amend their affiliations September has the personal planets taking a rest. As we have already noted Mercurys need to rest is extended into a retrograde sleep over which also has him returning into Virgos domain on 18 September. Venus joins him in the world of the virgin two days later. And other than the Sun switching signs on 23 September the planets are taking things easy.

Orbits Newsletter September 2009

OK lunation cycles. The Sun Moon face off occurs on 5 September at 2:01am with the axis falling over Virgo and Pisces at 12 15'. This Full Moon underscores the differences between logic and magic, between the analytic and the intuition, between order and disorder, between fact and fiction. Whichever way you look at it we have a time of confusion or rather conflict as these two play out their roles above us. The emotional/feeling part of us will want to go with the flow, dream, create, seek meaning beyond reality. The ego will want facts, details, data, spreadsheets and order. And we will be caught in the middle. Not unlike the Sabian symbol for the Full Moon: Sun at 13 Virgo: a powerful statesman overcomes a state of political hysteria and Moon at 13 Pisces: a sword used in many battles is now in a museum. In other words lets not spend too much time fighting over whether the Sun or the Moon energies should take precedence but rather lets see if we cant incorporate them both in a calm and creative methodical manner. The New Moon on 19 September at 4:44am comes together with both Moon and Sun at 25 Virgo 59'. The last few degrees of Virgo are under pressure on this day. The New Moon ruler sits only three degrees away and Saturn who has been in residence in Virgo since this time two years ago sits at the exact same degree. Saturn is also in an almost exact opposition to Uranus. These two have been playing around with each other since November 2008 and will continue to do so until the last punch is thrown in July 2010 when they are again exactly opposite at 01 Libra. We remember that this struggle between the one who represents the old, staid, traditional methods and the other who supports change, revolution, upset, saw Barack Obama voted into power. The play off continues in your own chart as well. Look again to the houses where this dispute is playing out and ascertain whether you are allowing the change to be incorporated (in the house where Uranus is transiting) or is the fear keeping you stuck in the old ways of the house where Saturn currently resides. The last time these two sat in a similar position was back in the turbulent 60s when Bob Dylan penned the words: the times they are a changing. And that they are!! Enjoy.

The F.A.A 18th Bi-Annual International Astrology Conference Workshops

Clare Martin
Relationships, Personality Theory and the Astrology of Film
In this workshop we will focus on six major relationship patterns recognised by personality theory and present in every birth chart. Well known films provide an excellent contemporary vehicle for the imaginative and creative exploration of these archetypal themes. Our reaction to films is always intensely personal, and films which attract or repel us, or which we need to watch repeatedly, reveal internal truths literally in projection - which are seeking to be absorbed, processed or worked through. We continue to revisit and repeat the inherent dilemmas contained within these stories until we have consciously recognised, integrated and outgrown them, which is why films can have such powerful cathartic and therapeutic value. Please bring your birth charts and a story from a film or fairy tale which has personal meaning for you, and we will consider how these can illustrate important relationship patterns and other major themes in your birth chart.

Greg Bogart
Astrology and Dreams
In this workshop you'll experience how astrology and dream work can be combined into a transformative spiritual practice. Dream symbols closely reflect our natal and transiting planets. We'll consider the meaning of dreams occurring during particular transits and progressions, and how planetary and dream archetypes manifest in waking life. Decoding the messages of dreams and transits together generates a potent broth of upsurgent feelings, pressing tasks, and energies rising within us in conscious response to change. Participants in this process-oriented workshop will be encouraged to transform themselves in response to the spiritual lessons and directives revealed through astrology and dreams.

Financial Astrology..On The Shoulders of GiantsAnne Elliot

Planning your retirement? Dreaming of a holiday to Hawaii? Annes advice could be just what youre looking for! Of course, you will need to do the work for yourself. Anne helps to inspire and assist in an understanding of the processes involved. After working quite a lot with Horary Astrology, Anne gravitated to Financial Astrology because, as she says, it provides you with evidence of the truth of astrology and its use. Anne reminds us that it is important to understand ourselves before we venture into the minefield of finances. Do you merely want enough money to have a holiday once a year? Do you want to get into the Corporate scene? It is your choice! Anne explains the difference between trade charts and inauguration of a company; she assists in the clarification of the differences and the way in which one should approach these differences. Anne also explains that one needs to understand how to trade rather than just using astrology as a means to financial freedom. A group known as Australian Technical Analysis Association (ATAA) is noted as a means by which this knowledge can be attained. Anne also directs us to the ASX site via the Internet, which provides us with company incorporation dates. Horse racing is mentioned as is the importance of Jupiter in connection with your own natal chart. Want to know more? Anne is easy on the ear and she provides lots of practical advice. This CD of a two-part series is certainly worth listening to, for those who hope to fill the coffers.

Synopsis of Horary Astrology Workshop Sunday 25 October 2009 with Christina Thomas
Horary Astrology has been practiced for thousands upon thousands of years. This ancient technique has been used by Astrologers to find answers to lifes questions. At this workshop Christina will spend half the time working on the theoretical foundations of Horary Astrology and give real examples of these techniques at work. The second half of the day will be spent applying those principals to charts of workshop participants. Christina will also show you Horary Astrology in a way that as far as she is aware has not been looked at before. Speakers Report Vedic Astrology
Presenter: Dorothy Soper Dorothy Soper was well prepared with several handouts for everyone as she began to take us on a journey into the world of Vedic astrology Joytish. She began with a little of the history to give some understanding and showed us how to view a Northern Vedic Chart as available in Solar Fire. The Northern Indian chart is a square chart with the centre diamond showing the four angular houses. To have a look a your Northern Vedic chart in Solar Fire open your chart then go to New Chart and using the same data but selecting (from the menus on the right side) firstly for House System Whole sign and then for Zodiac Lahiri. Press enter and then when you open the chart go to Pages on the right side menu and under Vedic select Vedic Northern India. Your planets and angles will have moved as there is a difference of approximately 23 degrees between Vedic and Tropical zodiac positions (difference for births in 1940 23 degrees, 23 degrees 51 minutes in 2000 and by 2010 this will be 24 degrees). Dorothy explained about Association, Vedic aspects including special aspects, Exaltation and Debilitation including the associated degrees, the friends and enemies (which planet likes or doesnt like the other), the natural Benefics and Malefics and the Four Principles of Life in Vedic Astrology. These are Artha, security and assets, Kama, desire relating and experiencing enjoyment, Dharma, natural law, Moksha, liberation and transformation and that all four of these principles or goals are important to achieve a fully rounded and balanced life. We explored a chart or two in the Vedic System and even tried to work one out that Dorothy had prepared for us so we could gain a better understanding. It was all very interesting and Dorothy did a great job of explaining and it is interesting to see your own chart converted to the Vedic system it puts a whole new light on your chart! The book Dorothy recommends if you would like to delve a little deeper into Joytish is Light on Life An Introduction into the Astrology of India by Hart De Fouw and Robert Svoboda and this is available at Amazon books.
