Saptarishis Astrology’s Update

I t has been a journey of thrills and adventure since we launched Saptarishis Astrology.
Some of our aims and missions have been fulfilled with the favorable response received
so far by you all while many remain yet to be achieved.

Saptarishis Astrology was started after years of frustration to improve few shortcomings in
the astrological research, knowledge: mining as well as practice of astrology that have been
observed over the time. Glaring shortcomings were observed in the areas of manuscripts
translation, lack of good software and importantly for rare and hidden knowledge to come
out. We started off as a business website but unfortunately have not been able to concentrate
on the business aspect in spite of 1.5 years of SA. This business aspect along with the dream
& mission of helping old astrologers monetarily was mentioned in the first editorial and it
was not just lip service but is still a burning mandate that has yet to be fulfilled. We have
not been able to focus on it due to more love & concern for content. The business model is
based around the Google model of business and can be a successful one at the same time
serving the astro community. The magazine’s size has grown from 96 pages of Vol 1 to 634
pages of current issue and beyond. The number of emails that we receive consumes our time
and while we cannot respond satisfactorily, we are also improving in our ability to
concentrate on our specific goals that would improve the quality of astrology globally. Some
emails of appreciation have come in highlighting that we have been doing a great divine
service but let us also understand that for us, this magazine is also creating a library of
articles for our own learning. We wish to re-emphasize, as stated in our Vol 1 editorial, that
we are very much a commercial business website and the magazine, along with manuscripts
and some other services, are given under our mission of promoting astrology for the benefit
of humanity. The mission of Saptarishis Astrology is to get rare knowledge out which costs
money and asking for huge discounts from our book shop is a bit tough on us especially
when we are donating 10% of our profits to charity in your name. Most important is mother
& Vidya is 4H, one never asks for discounts in vidya like one never asks for discount in
mothers love. As they say without mothers blessings no one can learn this vidya properly.
This mistake of asking discounts from book shops we ourselves did for many years until a
few years back we realized the reality of the situation. Also there are hardly any profits in
the book business and it should be understood that Saptarishis Astrology is a 14 to 15 hours,
365 day job. Apart from this would like to thank few kind souls who sent us donations which
we had to return, since as a commercial venture we do not accept donations as a policy.

Trinal Issues
In the current 12 months there are few goals to be achieved. However, considering the
limited resources presently at hand, we have decided to reduce the status of the magazine
from a Quarterly to Trinal Issues for at least a year. This means instead of 4 volumes every 3
months it would be 3 volumes every 4 months thereby giving us some space to travel and
search for more hidden astrologers. This can be facilitated by if more volunteers come out
and do service to the astrological community. As we write this piece, it is mid-June and by
Oct end, we will be pleased to release Vol 7 which would be the C S Patel Memorial Issue.
We would like to request more editors to come on board especially from the West and
from Indians whose command of English language and more importantly dormant editorial

skills would be welcomed. Editors have a great role to play in any good publication since
they can spell things out with clarity in thoughts, avoiding roundabout ways of writing – a
good article is one where after reading the article, the reader does not have any queries since
the author has communicated clearly from all angles. One experience which our editors have
shared with us so far is that when they edit any article, they learn more from that article
than if they were to just read that article. Thus editing also helps you in becoming a better
astrologer & also a writer, should you aim to take up astrological writing in the future. Also
the need of the hour is to do service by burning a CD of the magazine and giving it to your
neighborhood astrologer who does not have good internet access; or still, printing some good
articles from Saptarishis Astrology and sharing it with your astro colleagues. If there is one
secret of secrets that we have learnt in past few years, it is that by sharing knowledge in
whatever form, our own knowledge is increased at least tenfold – this is the truth of the
secret of gaining more knowledge and it should be done with an attitude of not expecting
anything from the Universe in return – then knowledge flows in automatically a la Brighu
Saral Paddathi Series type.

Problems & Solutions

T here is a huge bunch of mails that is received regularly by readers seeking solutions
for their problems. We feel really bad that we, so far, were unable to help. We have
not replied to such mails and hence we do apologize to all for this. The reason for
not replying to them is that we do not have a section yet dedicated to corrective and
propitiatory measures. We actually did not want to do what most magazines do which is to
run columns where readers write with their problems and ask for solutions – but now the
time is ripe and we realize that, to be of better assistance to our human folks, such a column
needs to be started. Remedial measures are the best part of Indian astrology and in that field;
the Lal Kitab stands with non second. Unfortunately there are very few real practitioners of
it and to be a real practitioner, one needs to know palmistry coupled with astrology since the
Red Book stressed on using palmistry along with astrology. In our years of search, we found
one honest and capable such practitioner by the name of Rabinder Bhandhari from the
interiors of India. We have seen that his results on many charts have been very effective. He
will be answering the questions raised by readers concerning solutions to their problems.

Only few cases will be selected and published in the next issue. We would like to request the
assistance of a volunteer who could man those mails received and replies to readers. A
practice that is common among internet forums is asking the remedy for oneself in 20
forums. Those who are found doing that and also writing to us would be discouraged since
we should approach the astrologer with sincerity & not approach 20 at the same time – the
reason being that everyone should know that remedies work more when you have faith in
whom you approached. Ancient texts say an astrologer is akin to God’s representative & one
cannot go to 20 Gods at the same time – guess they like faithfulness in us.

Burning Midnight Oil

T he need of the hour is not to wait till you are 20 years old in astrology but to take
verses & small techniques which are easy to decipher and test them aggressively.
Every successful astrologer knows that this is the only way he has come up in his
astrological journey. So if you are just few years old and understand basics of astrology, just
take few verses, collect data from internet forums and test it aggressively. You can also use
the verses and techniques mentioned in the palm leaf notes at the end of each article and test
it on 10 charts. The aim is not only to come up with a technique that works but also to write
articles on techniques that don’t work. For example for a Gemini Asc when Transit Jupiter
the 7th lord aspects Venus or the 7th lord from Jupiter of the natal chart, then marriage
happens but does this work on all Gemini ascendant charts, it can only be confirmed when
someone uses 20 to 50 charts and tests it statistically produces an article and gives the
technique some credence, though blindly going on statistical results is also not prudent
which every experienced astrologer has realized. But such kind of articles helps in focusing
the attention of an erudite astrologer who can further refine it. This way you can help save
time of other astro-students who would waste years on fruitless techniques due to non-
statistical testing & create good karma. This is a useful service you could render to the
astrological society. We would be happy to publish any such researchers provided the data
