Abstract Tenses are important in the education of English. And also constitute rules of within-speaking english. If someone wants to master English well, then he should be Able to master the tenses properly. Among the forms of tenses is simple past tense and the simple present tense roomates we discuss this later in our paper. Keyword : Simple past, tenses

BAB I INTRODUCTION A. Background of Study English is the international language. With good command of English with tenses especially then we will be able to communicate with other nations in the world. In addition, we will be able to add insight and knowledge for the betterment of our nation and state kita.Dengan Thus, in the end we can master the knowledge-knowledge in all fields.

so, it is necessary to first understand that there are grammatical in English. In addition to facilitate pronunciation, we will also understand how to construct the word to be pronounced so that it becomes a coherent sentence and correct according this tenses.

B. Limitation of Study The types of simple past tense : 1. Simple Past Tense in the form of Affirmative The formula for the simple past tense in nominal terms is: + Subject + tobe ..... 2. Simple Past Tense in the negative form In the sentence denies the formula used in nominal terms, Subject + Tobe + Not + ... While the phrase is used to deny the verbal form of the formula, Subject + did + not + + VerbI ... example: I did not go to campus last day.

3. Simple Past Tense in the interrogative form In the interrogative sentence in nominal terms used formula, Tobe + Subject + ... example: Was I here last week?

C. Significances of Study There are several issues that the topic of this paper, which is defined by the form of words, especially the Simple Past Tense so that the reader can understand and apply the tenses in everyday conversation or formal activities that use English as the primary language. so that the reader can distinguish between tenses occur (present tense), which will come (future tense), especially (past tense) the past that discuss this in the paper.

BAB II ANALYSIS OF STUDY 1. Definition Simple past tense is a verb form is simple to show that an event never happened and it has been customary in the past. last. example : last week, last year, last two days, last Monday, last December, etc. this + morning/noon/afternoon/evening.
