Task

The task consists of 2 rounds. Round 1: 1) The round is played for two teams at a time, with each playing independently in their respective halves and runs for a maximum of 3 minutes. So two teams can complete their rounds at a time. 2) The hovercraft can be placed anywhere in the any of the zones A1 or A2. 3) For the task, the hovercraft is required to move through the zone A1 (or A2) through the field F, into the zone B1 (or B2) and then back to the zone A1 (or A2) to complete a round(respectively). 4) The time it takes to complete 2 rounds is recorded starting from the time of launch. If these 2 rounds are not completed in the first 3 minutes, the team will be disqualified. 5) Each time the hovercraft touches any of the walls, a penalty of 5 seconds is imposed (five seconds added to the time taken).

The top 4 teams are selected and moved to Round 2.

Round 2: This round consists of 2 eliminations rounds (2 semi-finals and the final) containing in total 3 matches. 1) The match is played for 2 teams at a time and runs for 5 minutes. 2) The hovercraft can be placed anywhere in Zone A1 and Zone A2 respectively for the 2 teams.

3) For the task, the hovercrafts are required to move through the zone A1(and A2), through the field F into the zone B1(and B2) and then back to the Zone A1(and A2) to complete a round and score 100 points (respectively). 4) Each time the hovercraft touches any of the walls, a penalty of 10 points is imposed. 5) The team with the maximum points at the end of 5 minutes wins the match. 6) In case of a tie, the match is restarted and the first team to complete a round irrespective of the number of wall touches is declared winner.

Dimensions and Fabrication

1) The vehicle must strictly and purely be a hovercraft, i.e., it should operate by creating a cushion of high-pressure air between the hull of the vessel and the surface below. Any other vehicular design will be rejected. Participants can not use wheels or any other mechanism other than the basic mechanism used by hovercrafts. 2) The hovercraft must fit inside a cube of side 40 cm. 3) The use of IC engines is strictly prohibited. Only electric motors will be allowed. 4) Ready-to-Fly (RTF) and Almost-Ready-to-Fly (ARF) kits are strictly prohibited. Glass/carbon fiber sticks, servo-mount, motor-mount can be purchased and used if required. 5) Use of ready-made actuators/motors, remote control units, electronic speed controllers and propellers is allowed. 6) The hovercraft must operate using wireless transmission.

7) To prevent interference between transmitters during the race the participants must either Use remote with frequency of band spectrum 2.4 GHz. In case of RF controller, are advised to bring an RF controller with variable frequencies (or multiple crystals). 8) The voltage difference between any two points on the hovercraft should not exceed 12V.

Rules
1. Maximum number of team members allowed is 4. 2. At the beginning of the task, the hovercraft is placed in one of the zones A1 or A2. 3. Only 2 members from the team are allowed to be near the game field while starting the bot and only 1 of them must control the hovercraft. 4. Teams will not get any extra time for practice, testing or calibrations on the arena before the run. 5. Other communication devices are not allowed near the arena while the competition is on. This includes remote control of your car while some other teams run is on. The organizers hold the right to check for these devices and their usage. 6. Machines found damaging the arena will be immediately disqualified. 7. The time measured by the organizers will be final and will be used for scoring the teams. Time measured by any contestant by any other means is not acceptable for scoring. The decision of the organizers will be final and binding in all circumstances. 8. If a hovercraft gets stuck, then it will be placed back to its last crossed zone, Zone A1/A2 or B1/B2. This will be done by the organizers. Teams are not allowed to touch the machines during the run (except if the team announces time-out as per the next rule (8). The timer will keep running during this process. 9. Time Outs: In Round 1, a team is also allowed to take unlimited time outs each of maximum 1 minute in case it feels that manual intervention is required to repair any damage or malfunctioning. For each time out, a penalty of 20 seconds is imposed and the hovercraft is put back in the last crossed zone, Zone A1/A2 or B1/B2. No extra time and/or time out will be provided in Round 2. The timer will be stopped for the duration of the time out.

Judging
Scoring System Round 1: Corrected time taken = Actual time taken (in seconds) + 5 X (No of wall touches) + 20 X (No of timeouts) {The lesser the time, the higher ranked will be the player} Round 2: Total points = 100*(Total rounds made) - 10*(No of wall touches) Eligibility All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate. Certificate Policy Certificate of Excellence will be awarded to the top 2 teams. Certificate of Participation will be given to all the participating teams who are able to enter B1 or B2 (coloured red in Figure 1 and Figure 2) in the allotted 3 minutes in Round 1. Disqualified teams will not be considered for any certificates.
