Summary of the critical literature review

A literature review is a text written by someone to consider the critical points of current knowledge including substantive findings as well as theoretical and methodological contributions to a particular topic. Literature reviews are secondary sources, and as such, do not report any new or original experimental work. Also, a literature review can be interpreted as a review of an abstract accomplishment. In this chapter the emphasis is on the characteristics of the literature review is given. Actually it is the published and unpublished documents that contain necessary information ideas and particular data relating to your interest. There are two types of research (1) inductive and (2) deductive, the literature review is very important for both types of research. In deductive research the literature review will also help the researcher to develop the theoretical framework and hypotheses but in inductive it is not. Other function of it is to get relevant information relating to your interest area after detail literature reading. The purpose of literature is also most diversified concept, that is the first review and then second review, actually there are number of researches are conducted in the relevant field. After reading in a detail pattern of literature the new researcher is become able to develop a good problem statement and to develop the relevant knowledge about his work. There is lot of problems to articulate the variables in the model, and if researcher is not aware of past literature he is not in a position to conduct research in a right direction. Some people replicate the facets in his work in different ways because of no knowledge of vast literature. It is the common practice that researcher thinks differently but the results are in different way, it is the result of unaware of literature. On the other hand literature provides researchers with a sense how to develop their

own research framework; this includes the identification of relevant concepts related to the study and an explanation of how and why these relevant concepts related to each other. Other purpose of good literature review thus provides the foundation for developing a comprehensive theoretical frame work from which hypotheses can be develop for testing. There are different types of approaches to find good literature review; these are Data sources, Textbooks, Journals, Theses, Conference proceedings, unpublished manuscript, Reports, Newspapers and the internet. Evaluation of literature is also very important component of the research, it gives the researcher a confidence that is work is valuable or not with respect to requirement of the problem. When a researcher study different types of sources for literature he is able to find that what is valuable paper or journal or not for his work, if the journal has high impact factor then it is valuable and vice versa. The most important thing is that the research is for others, and if this research contribute to others then it is valuable, it is only possible if researcher has a deep study of critical literature. At last when a researcher conducted a research to address a critical problem in a given situation it is very important to save the ethics of the research. These ethics are different nature like misrepresenting the work of others authors- their view point, ideas, models, findings and conclusions and so on. The most common thing in ethics is the plagiarism the use of author original words, arguments and ideas etc.
