Scientific Classification Project


You will review how scientists classify animalslike the fox. You will scientifically classify one specific species of foxand learn what sound it actually makes! Use the materials provided for your research or visit our class website for online resources. This project is worth 95 points. See rubric on page 2.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN


Complete the following tasks before beginning your project:

Read What Sound Does the Fox Really Make? on page 3. Complete the Main Idea and Supporting Details organizer on page 4. Read Identifying Species on page 5. Define the following words from page 5: biodiversity, characteristics, habitat, species, and traits. Read the information on page 7, 8 and 9. Complete the Part-to-Whole Analogies on page 10. Choose at least one species of fox to research from the Fact Sheets provided, or by researching independently. Collect information from the Fact Sheet or other sources using the Summary organizer on page 16.
