Dear Craig It was good to meet you last night and I thought I will drop you a line with some realistic objectives. We agreed we need to reset the relationship between Rangers and HMRC. I propose we do this at the board level of HMRC in London via myself and Terry Byrne as we discussed. Terry was the former Deputy Chairman of HMRC and can access the board at a weeks notice. We also need to engage a operational level with HMRC in Glasgow to try to diffuse any blinkered thinking or religious bias. In this instance I would call upon Richard Spence the recently retired head of investigations in Glasgow who also happens to be one of your season ticket holders for the last 25 years, so will go the extra mile for me. It is vital we engage with headquarters of HMRC in London as Glasgow seem to be running of at a tangent. Our proposal is to go on a retainer for a three month period for 20,000 a month. My objective is to blitz HMRC at board level in London and regional manager level in Scotland to try to make them draw back from the brink and consider a reasonable negotiated Tax settlement. If you would like to engage with us, I have prepared a formal letter of engagement and wish to emphasise that we will work alongside your existing advisors within a framework of an agreed strategy. Finally, if you wish us to contact HMRC they will insist upon seeing a copy of the signed LOE to ensure that we have the authority to discuss matters on your behalf. Regards
