Week 1: Build vision and asses skills Activities Trace the Trash Description Each participant will choose one of the pieces of trash. They will tell the story of the trash to a partner or small group from its entrance on the island, to their home, how its used and its end of life location. Each group will then list similarities between their stories. This will be followed by a group discussion about the problem trash creates on the islands and what they would like to see changed. The question formulation technique is a simple technique that allows the group to ask the questions and as a group decide which questions are most important to be answered. This will help frame the later discussions and we answer the questions together throughout the week. Questions will be recorded on paper. Specific stories will be shared through multimedia that are relatable to the waste problems within the Kuna community and offer inspirational community based solutions. Discussions and activities will follow that draw out central themes and apply the stories to their lives. Will begin to describe what their recycling association will look like. Maps of each island will be printed and laminated. Members of the recycling association will identify assets within the community. Various objects will be used to represent different kinds of assets. Each will be placed on the map. This will help them identify the assets that already exist within the community and those that they will need to obtain. As a large group describe what the recycling association will be. Working in small groups they will create a short description of their recycling association that explains why it is needed and what they plan to do. We will then roll play different scenarios in small groups so they can practice. Potentially will present pitch at program launch. Pop Ed Experience and Patterns Goals 1 - Build shared vision by creating a collective understanding of the problems trash creates

Week 2: Evaluate business decisions and continue to asses skills Activities Stakeholder mapping Customer interviews Description List stakeholders as a group. Evaluate each stakeholders investment in the group vision. Map out who will help make it happen and who might not be committed to the vision. As a group generate a list of questions to ask customers. Practice giving pitch and then asking questions and recording responses. Using the map divide the island in sections and go in pairs to get as many interviews complete as possible. Analyze findings and draw conclusions. Using maps create routes and identify locations for drop off and storage. Then walk the route and modify based on findings. Outline business decisions that need to be made. Working in small groups and drawing on previous data collection they will discuss benefits and drawbacks after each decision point is presented. Then share out with larger group. Where applicable incorporate some calculations in order to assess math skills. Share initial questions, stakeholder maps, route maps, findings from questions. Discuss similarities and differences among the four islands. Create larger map displaying how the four islands will work together. Discuss essential business decisions that must be decided as a larger association before the business is launched. Discuss next steps and create goals.
