Notices for Safety
The followings are what you need to follow to safely replace the units. Please be sure to read the precautions before replacing the units. Keep the ORU-M REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS at hand for your future reference and be careful not to lose it. Make sure you follow the safety precautions listed in the ORU-M REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS.

Meanings of Indicators
The various types of indicators are used as warning in the ORU-M REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS and on the product labels to prevent injury to you and other and damege to property. The table below lists symbols and their meanings. WARNING CAUTION Failure to heed this warning could cause serious injury or even death. Failure to heed this caution could result in injury or damage to property.

Meanings of Symbols
A triangle indicates a danger against which you should take precaution. You can find details of the precautions depicted within into the symbol. (Example) A symbol representing "High Temperature". A diagonal line indicates a prohibited course of action. You can find specific forbidden actions within or near the symbols. (Example) A symbol representing "Prohibition of Disassembly". This symbol indicates an imperative course of action. You can find specific instructions within the symbols. (Example) A symbol meaning "Unplug the Power Cord".

Power Plug
WARNING Do not unplug and plug in the power cord with a wet hand, as an electrical shock could result. Plug the power cord all the way into the power outlet. Failure to do this could result in a fire or electrical shock. CAUTION Do not tug the power cord when unplugging. Tugging the cord to do this could damage it, resulting in a fire, electrical shock, or breakdown.

2.3 Caution Labels and Indicators

This machine has warning label, caution labels and indicators for safety precaution in the following location. These labels and indicators advise you to pay special attention to avoid any dangerous situations or serious injury when you replace the units.
7 CAUTION
DO NOT remove warning or caution labels! Should any warning or caution label be removed, you may fail to check a specific part to be alert for unexpected trouble or injury. If you find any warning or caution label removed or illegible due to soilage, please contact your service representative.

DO NOT touch the fusing part of the fixing conveyance unit. Otherwise, you may get burned. Please be especially careful in withdrawing the fixing conveyance unit or opening the fusing part.

DO NOT put your hand or arm between the main body and the fixing conveyance unit. Touching connecting terminals of electric parts may damage the machine or cause unexpected trouble. Please do not try to work yourself, but contact your service representative.

NEVER throw the waste toner box into a fire. Otherwise, the toner may ignite and cause a dangerous situation.

The screen to agree on the responsibility for the ORU-M operations is displayed. If the ORU-M password is set, the ORU-M Password screen to enter the password is displayed. Proceed to step 4.

If you agree, press [Yes].

If you do not agree, press [No]. The Utility screen will be restored.
Enter 4-digit ORU-M password, and then press [OK]. Use half-width alphanumeric characters for the ORU-M password. The half-width alphanumeric characters used for the passwords are case-sensitive. You cannot use symbols and space character.
NOTICE
The ORU-M password is not set initially. If you want to set the ORU-M password, please contact your service representative. The ORU-M password cannot be modified. If you want to modify it, please contact your service representative.

Confirm the units that you replace on the ORU-M Replacement Unit screen. On this screen, units to be replaced are listed in the order from the nearest replacement time. The value of life cycle will be greater than or equal to 100% and highlighted in red if the replacement time limit of the unit exceed its life cycle. The date of last replacement is displayed on the right column of the list. If you want to replace the unit now, proceed to step 8.
NOTICE
Initially, all units are displayed regardless of the need for replacement. You can configure it to display only the units needed to be replaced. You can also modify the threshold to decide whether to display the unit to be replaced or not. Please contact your service representative for details.
Display the replacement procedure guide and check the procedures of the unit replacement. You can confirm the unit replacement procedure before you actually replace them. If you do not need to display the replacement procedure guide, proceed to step 7. (1) Press [Replacement Procedure].

Press a button of an unit that you want to replace, and then press [Procedure Guide View].
The replacement guide screen is displayed. (3) In order to move to previous or next page of the guide, press [*][)] at the bottom of the guide screen.

Print a sample image. If you do not need to print a sample image, or the [Print Mode] button is not displayed on the ORU-M Peplacement Unit screen, proceed to step 8.

(1) Press [Print Mode].
The PRINT MODE screen is displayed. (2) Select a paper that is larger than A4, and press START on the control panel.
The sample image will be output on the specified paper. (3) Press [Close].

Make sure that the lever M4 is brought down and Tray 1 and Tray 2 are correctly set, then press [Yes].

3.2 Replacing ORU-M Units
NOTICE

You can check the procedure of unit replacement on the screen while you are performing the operation.
NOTICE
The replacement of this unit starts with the fusing unit removed. For details on how to remove the fusing unit, refer to page 3-3.
Lift the transfer belt unit [3] at an angle of 45 degrees holding the areas [1] and [2], then pull in out. Keep the removed transfer belt unit on the flat surface.
Loosen the screws [1] (3 pieces) of ADU drawer cover, then remove the cover.
Disconnect the connectors [1] (2 pieces). Release the connector [2] from the wire saddle.

Be careful not to drop the screws when removing them.
Remove the transfer belt cleaning unit in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Fix the new transfer belt cleaning unit according the guide pin.
NOTICE
Be careful not to catch the bundled cables when installing the transfer belt cleaning unit.

Tighten the black screws [1] (4 pieces).

Connect the connectors [1] (2 pieces) so that the blue one is on the left and the white one is on the right. Fix the connector [2] by the wire saddle.
NOTICE
Be careful not to connect a wrong connector.

Fix the cover of ADU drawer by tightening the screws [1] (3 pieces).

Be careful not to catch the bundled cables when installing the ADU drawer cover.

When the replacement is completed, press [Complete Replacement] on the ORU-M Replacement Unit screen.
NOTICE
You can return to the replacement procedures again and restart the procedures if the [Continue replacement] button is displayed on the screen. Please use this button if you need to replace other units. Once you start the adjustment procedure, the [Continue replacement] button is not displayed on this screen and you cannot return to the replacement procedures.

Pull out the ADU drawer and open the reversal output part. Set the fusing unit [3] to the correct position while holding both the front side [1] and the rear side [2] handles. Slide the unit in the direction indicated by the arrow until it reaches the rear side.

Select the name of the replaced unit. % If you have replaced more than one unit, you can select the ones with the same reason to be registered all at once.
If the [Replace Reason] button is not displayed in the list of the Register ORU-M Replacement Unit screen, press the checkbox next to the [Unit Name].
The checkmark is displayed. Proceed to step 5. % You can select multiple unit names at one time. You can perform subsequent tasks together by selecting all units you replaced.
NOTICE
Only service engineer can configure not to display the [Replace Reason] button on the Register ORUM Replacement Unit screen. Please contact your service representative, if desired.
Press the [Replace Reason] button. The dialog to select a reason to replace is displayed.

NOTICE
Be sure to select a reason for the replacement. Otherwise, the life cycle counter of the replaced unit will not be reset.
Press [Done].
The dialog box asking to reset the counter of the selected unit is displayed.

The life cycle counter of the replaced unit will be reset. % Press [No] to retain the current counter value. The screen to review the life of replace ORU-M units is displayed.
Make sure that the life cycle value of the replaced unit has been cleared.

Fusing Unit
When you want to replace an ORU-M unit, switch the machine to the ORU-M mode and follow the procedures on the screen to replace the unit. This document is comprised of the following sections, in order of screen appearance; Prerequisites for Replacing ORU-M Units explains how to switch the machine to the ORU-M mode and prepare for replacement; Replacing ORU-M Units explains the procedures to replace the ORU-M units; and Procedure after ORU-M Unit Replacement explains the procedures to be performed after replacement. You should print this document out and have the hard copy on hand when you start replacement work.

This document is comprised of the following sections, in order of screen appearance; Prerequisites for Replacing ORU-M Units explains how to switch the machine to the ORU-M mode and prepare for replacement; Replacing ORU-M Units explains the procedures to replace the ORU-M units; and Procedure after ORU-M Unit Replacement explains the procedures to be performed after replacement. You should print this document out and have the hard copy on hand when you start replacement work.

The replacement of this unit starts with the fusing unit removed. For details on how to remove the fusing unit, refer to page 6-3.
Loosen the screws [1] (2 pieces), then remove the cover of the drum part [2].
Release the lock [1] and pull out the intermediate toner hopper, then release the lock [2] and open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Slowly rotate the drum lock knob [1] clockwise [2] more than one revolution in order to remove the toner on the drum. Then, firmly rotate the drum lock knob counterclockwise [3] to remove it[1].

Turn the left [1] and right [2] lock levers in the direction indicated by the arrow, then pull out the drum part to the front.
Release the wire saddle [1], and disconnect the connectors [2] (2 pieces).
Remove the charging corona unit [3] while holding the areas [1] and [2].
Hold the areas [1] and [2] of the new charging corona unit [3], then align it into the fitting to install it by fitting and pushing the areas [1] and [2].
NOTICE
Be careful not to catch the bundled cables when installing the charging corona unit.
Connect the connectors [1] (2 pieces) and fasten the wire saddle [2].

Do not forget to connect the connectors of the charging corona.

Remove the bushing (front) [1], then move the bushing (rear) [2] to the rear side on the shaft.
Hold the pick up roller assy [1], raise and rotate the feed roller [3], center it on the pick up roller axis [2], then remove it from the bushing holding metal parts [4][5].

Please be careful not to damage the sensor when removing pick up roller assy.

Loosen the screws [1] (2 pieces), then remove the cover of the drum part [2].
Release the lock [1] and pull out the intermediate toner hopper, then release the lock [2] and open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Slowly rotate the drum lock knob [1] clockwise [2] more than one revolution in order to remove the toner on the drum. Then, firmly rotate the drum lock knob counterclockwise [3] to remove it[1].

Turn the left [1] and right [2] lock levers in the direction indicated by the arrow, then pull out the drum part to the front.
Release the wire saddles [1] (2 pieces), then disconnect the connector [2]. Lift up the cleaning set levers [3] (2 pieces) to release.
As the illustration shows, put both thumbs into [1] (2 positions), then remove the cleaning part [2] while rotating it in the direction indicated by [3].
NOTICE
When removing the cleaning part, rotate it at an angle of about 15 degrees away from the drum.
As the illustration shows, put both thumbs into [1] (2 positions) of the new cleaning part [2], set in fitting , then rotate it in the direction of the drum (indicated by the arrow) [3] to fix it.
NOTICE
Be careful not to catch the bundled cables when fixing the cleaning part.
Confirm the blade lever [4] has been lowered.

If the blade lever [4] has been lifted, perform the following steps to lower the lever.

The replacement of this unit starts with the fusing unit removed. For details on how to remove the fusing unit, refer to page 11-3.
Loosen the screws [1] (2 pieces), then remove the cover of the drum part [2].
Release the lock [1] and pull out the intermediate toner hopper, then release the lock [2] and open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Slowly rotate the drum lock knob [1] clockwise [2] more than one revolution in order to remove the toner on the drum. Then, firmly rotate the drum lock knob counterclockwise [3] to remove it[1].

Turn the left [1] and right [2] lock levers in the direction indicated by the arrow, then pull out the drum part to the front.
Remove the charging corona unit. (1) Release the wire saddle [1], then disconnect the connectors [2] (2 pieces).

Remove the charging corona unit [3] while holding the areas [1] and [2].
Remove the drum cleaner. (1) Release the wire saddles [1] (2 pieces), then disconnect the connector [2]. Lift up the cleaning set levers [3] (2 pieces) to release.

(2) As the illustration shows, put both thumbs into [1] (2 positions), then remove the cleaning part [2] while rotating it in the direction indicated by [3]. Important: When removing the cleaning part, rotate it at an angle of about 15 degrees away from the drum.

To release the stopper of the PCC unit, rotate the PCC unit lock knob [1] at 90 degrees while pulling out.
Slide the PCC unit [1] in the direction indicated by the arrow [2]. Lift up the PCC unit [1] in the direction indicated by the arrow [3], releasing the front side first, and then the rear.
NOTICE
When removing PCC unit, cover the drum surface with sheet of paper in order to prevent scratching to the drum surface.

Set the angle of the new PCC unit to the receiver, then fix the unit by sliding to the back.

When fixing PCC unit, please set the back side then set the front side.

Please be careful not to scratch the drum surface. When the PCC unit is installed, remove the paper which was inserted in step 9.

Fix the drum cleaner. (1) As the illustration shows, put both thumbs into [1] (2 positions) of the new cleaning part [2], set in fitting , then rotate it in the direction of the drum (indicated by the arrow) [3] to fix it. Important: Be careful not to catch the bundled cables when installing the drum cleaner. Confirm the blade lever [4] has been lowered. If the blade lever [4] has been lifted, perform the following steps to lower the lever. (a) Keep the left side lever of the cleaning part lifted towards the direction indicated by the arrow. Rotate the blade lever [4] all the way down in the direction indicated by the arrow, then release it. Release the left side lever.

Lock the cleaning set levers [1 ](2 pieces). Connect the connector [2]. Fix the wire by the wire saddle [3] (2 pieces). Important: Do not forget to connect the drum cleaner connector.

Install the charging corona unit. (1) Hold the areas [1] and [2] of the charging corona unit [3], then align it into the fitting to install it by fitting and pushing the areas [1] and [2]. Important: Be careful not to catch the bundled cables when installing the charging corona unit.

This document is comprised of the following sections, in order of screen appearance; Prerequisites for Replacing ORU-M Units explains how to switch the machine to the ORU-M mode and prepare for replacement; Replacing ORU-M Units explains the procedures to replace the ORU-M units; and Procedure after ORU-M Unit Replacement explains the procedures to be performed after replacement. You should print this document out and have the hard copy on hand when you start replacement work.
