Legal process
The law: CMA98 creates 4 types of players:

Content Applications Service Providers: who are special subset of application service providers including traditional broadcast services and newer services such as online publishing and information services Network Service provider: who provides the basic connectivity and bandwidth to support a variety of applications. Network service enable connectivity or transport between different networks. Application Service providers: who provides particular functions such as voice service and data services Network Facilities Providers: owners of facilities, such as satellite, fibre optics, telecommunications lines

DTT trials, 2006

National trial

Conducted by RTM (6 mths) Transmitter stations are at Menara Kuala Lumpur (ch 44 & 46) and Gunung Ulu Kali (ch 43 & 45). Generally: same transmitter locations as the analog networks. DVB-T, MFN Power set at 5kW Starts 7pm midnight daily

Parameters: 64 QAM, FEC 2/3, GI 1/4 Rooftop reception Coverage area include Klang Valley (primary), northern Selangor and southern Perak. 2000 selected households for viewer survey which will be conducted by consultant. Compression: Mpeg 2

Standards
Malaysia has adopted the DVB-T standards for FTA television following a Commission Determination on a Mandatory Standard for Free To Air DTT No. 2 of 2006 issued in November 2006 [ The National trial showcase MCMC Exhibition Booth ]
