Before Online Manual Startup


The Online Manual is installed when the software for this product is installed. However, the attached Adobe Reader (*1) will not be installed at the time of software installation. Therefore, install Adobe Reader separately. If a version of Adobe Reader already exists in the PC, it is necessary to uninstall the existing Adobe Reader, and install the version of Adobe Reader in the CD-ROM for electronic documents. Before starting StoryVIEW, Adobe Reader needs to be started, and the license agreement must be accepted.
*1: Adobe Reader 7.0.0, Adobe Reader 6.0.1, and Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 can be used. Hereinafter, they are referred to as Adobe Reader unless distinctively required.

IMPORTANT
The location (folder) of the installed online manuals should not be changed otherwise the online manuals cannot start normally.

Preparations Ahead of Starting Online Manual


In order to startup the online manuals, the following installations need to be prepared. StoryVIEW, a package for viewing the online manuals. StoryFINDER and StoryFINDER Plug-Ins, the packages for searching the whole manuals.

Installing StoryVIEW and StoryFINDER


StoryVIEW and StoryFINDER are included in the CD-ROM of the Electronic Document. They are installed concurrently with the installation of the PDF files of the Users Manual. Besides, the StoryFINDER plug-in needs to be installed.

Installing the StoryFINDER Plug-In


After installing the electronic document, install the plug-in. The installation procedure is as follows: 1. 2. 3. 4. Verify that Adobe Reader has been installed. If not installed, install Adobe Reader. Select the ENGLISH folder in the READER folder under the Centum folder in the electronic document CD-ROM. Verify that FINDER.exe exists in the selected folder. Double-click FINDER.exe to install StoryFINDER plug-in.

Calling Up the Online Manual


The Online Manual can be called up using the method shown below.

Calling Up from the Start Menu of Windows


Select a menu item for calling up the online manual by selecting [Programs] - [YOKOGAWA CENTUM] - [Online Manual] from the Start menu of Windows. Read Me First, Using the Online Manual, Document Map and Reference Index can be called up.

If Read Me First or Using the Online Manual is selected, Adobe Reader will start, and the corresponding PDF file will be displayed. If Document Map is selected, StoryVIEW will start and the document map will be displayed. SEE ALSO

Calling Up from the [Help] Menu of an Engineering Window


Select a menu item for starting the online manual from the [Help] menu of an engineering window. Using the Online Manual, Engineering Tutorial, Builder Definition Items, Reference Index and other items can be started.

Tool Buttons on StoryVIEW


The tool buttons on StoryVIEW and how to use the tool buttons are explained as follows.

[Find All/Find]

[Back] button Returns to the previously displayed page. [Forward] button Proceeds to the next page if the display has been returned to the previously displayed page using the [Back] button. [Show/Hide] button Switches to display or hide Tree View (window that displays a tree of builder items) and List View (window that displays the table of contents in Engineering Procedures). [Find All] button Searches all text of a builder item or Users Manual by specifying the search range. However, it is not possible to search all text of Engineering Procedures. [Find] button Searches within the currently displayed page while the Engineering Procedures are being displayed. If only search within builder item page, choose [Find on this page] from [Edit] menu. [Favorites] button Displays the items that have been registered as favorites. Also adds, changes, deletes or moves favorites items. [History] button Displays the history items that were previously displayed. [Print] button Prints the page currently being displayed. [Help] button Displays Read Me First or Using the Online Manual as the help of StoryVIEW.

Displaying Window of Builder Items


Builder items are the links to description texts of the related users manuals corresponding to the setting items of the builders. The following explains how to display builder items and information belonging to the items, how to link to the Users Manual, and how to search text within the Online Manual.

Displaying Builder Items


When Builder Definition Items is selected from the [Help] menu of an engineering window, the builder items will be displayed in StoryVIEW.

If contents other than the builder item are displayed in the StoryVIEW window, selecting [Builder items] from the view list will display the list of builder items in Tree View.

TIP
The builder items will not be displayed in Page View by only selecting [Builder items] from the view list. The contents that were displayed before selecting [Builder items] will remain in Page View. To display the builder items, select the desired item to be displayed from the list of builder items.

Using the Tree View of Builder Items


Tree View displays the classification of the builder items as a list. If an item is selected from the tree section of Tree View, the contents of the selected builder item are displayed in the HTML format. If If is clicked, the classification of the builder items of the lower layer will be displayed. is clicked, the classification of the builder items of the lower layer will be hidden.

The builder items will not be displayed in Page View even if the highest layer classification (builder classification) is clicked.

Displaying the Page Number of the Users Manual


To display the page number of the linked users manual, position the mouse pointer on the builder item name.

To display the supplementary information, position the mouse pointer on the TIP symbol ( ) at the end of the builder item name in Page View.

When the builder item name is clicked in Page View, the Users Manual for the selected builder item name will be displayed in Adobe Reader.

Searching while Displaying the Builder Items


Searching within the page currently being displayed and searching for Online Manuals can be performed while the builder items are being displayed. Searches within the page currently being displayed in the builder items window. Searches all text of a builder item or Users Manual by specifying the search range. TIP
To search within the page while the builder items window is being displayed, select Find (on This Page) from the [Edit] menu. The [Find] tool button will not be displayed.

Displaying the Engineering Procedures


When [Engineering procedures] is selected from the view list in StoryVIEW, engineering procedure items are displayed in List View.

When the contents other than the Engineering Procedures are displayed in the StoryVIEW window, selecting [Engineering procedures] from the list, the engineering items are displayed in List View. TIP
The Engineering Procedures will not be displayed in Page View by only selecting [Engineering procedures] from the view list. The contents that were displayed before selecting [Engineering procedures] will remain in Page View. To display the Engineering Procedures, select the desired procedure item to be displayed from the table of contents for the Engineering Procedures.

When an engineering procedure item in the table of contents that is displayed in List View of the Engineering Procedures window is clicked, the engineering procedure corresponding to the selected engineering procedure item is displayed in Page View.

Linking to the Users Manual


When an underlined item is clicked in the Engineering Procedures, its description is displayed first. Click the link to display the corresponding users manual in Adobe Reader.

Searching while Displaying the Engineering Procedures


Searching within the page currently being displayed and searching within the Online Manual can be performed while the Engineering Procedures is being displayed. Searches within the page currently being displayed in the Engineering Procedures window. Searches all text of builder items or a users manual by specifying the search range. TIP
To search all text while an Engineering Procedures window is being displayed, select Find (All Pages) from the [Edit] menu. The Find All tool button will not be displayed.

When [Map] is selected from the list in StoryVIEW, a list of document maps is displayed in List View.

Document Map and Reference Map are listed in List View. Choose one of them and click to display. If the document map is not displayed When [Map] is selected from the view list in StoryVIEW, the list of document maps is displayed in List View. TIP
The above mentioned map window will not be displayed in Page View by only selecting [Map] from the view list. The contents displayed before selecting [Map] will remain in Page View. Choose either Document Map or Reference Map listed in List View, then click to display.

Linking to the User's Manuals


The names of the manuals in the Document Map or Reference Map are linked to the manual files. Clicking a name in the map, the linked user manual can be displayed in Adobe Reader.

TIP
When clicking PART B of Reference Map in StoryVIEW, same as clicking PART A, the first page of Field Control Station Basics will be displayed. When clicking PART D of Reference Map in StoryVIEW, same as clicking PART C, the first page of Function Block Details will be displayed.

Online Manuals to be Searched While the Map Displays


When the Map displays, searching for a builder item or a users manual can be performed throughout the whole document in accordance with the range specified. TIP
When the Map is displayed, Find (on This Page) is not activated. [Find (on This Page)] is grayed in [Edit] menu.

How to add to favorites list is explained as follows.

Organize Favorites
Click a topic from the favorites displayed in Tree View, the builder items, engineering procedures and users manuals are displayed. Right click a topic, the shortcut menu displays, create a new folder, delete or rename a topic or a folder can be preformed.

Displaying Window of Users Manuals


The following explains how to display the Users Manual, how to use the Users Manual, and how to search text within the Online Manual.

Displaying the Users Manuals


The users manual can be displayed in the PDF with Adobe Reader by linking from the window of builder items, Map window or window of Engineering Procedures.

Using the Page Number Field


The page number is displayed in the upper-right portion of the Users Manual. It is also displayed in the page number field of Adobe Reader. The page to be displayed can be changed by entering the desired page number in this page number field. For example, entering Toc-2 and pressing the <Enter> key will display the Toc-2 page. TIP
The pages that can be displayed by entering the desired page number in the page number field are limited to the pages of the PDF file that is currently displayed.

Using the Link from SEE ALSO


The SEE ALSO section of the Users Manual has a link, as shown below. The link is displayed in green. function blocks.

Convenient Utilities of StoryVIEW: Find, Favorites, History, Help


Searching can be performed within a page of the builder items window or Engineering Procedures window in StoryVIEW. Searching all builder items or the all texts of the Online Manual can also be performed by specifying the search range. The function that searches all text is called StoryFINDER. The Find dialog box can be displayed by selecting [Find (on This Page)] or [Find (All Pages)] in the [Edit] menu, or the [Find/Find All] tool button. TIP
The display name of the [Find/Find All] tool button changes according to the Online Manual that is being displayed in StoryVIEW as follows: While the builder items window, a map window or a Users Manual is being displayed, the display name of the tool button will be [Find All]. This has the same function as [Find (All Pages)] in the [Edit] menu. While the Engineering Procedures is being displayed, the display name of the tool button will be [Find]. This has the same function as [Find (on This Page)] in the [Edit] menu.

It is possible to register topics in Favorites and display the history and the Help as useful applications of StoryVIEW.

Using Find toolbar of StoryVIEW, StoryVIEW will search the documents according to the designated search range.

When [Find (All Pages)] in the [Edit] menu of StoryVIEW is selected, or when the [Find All] tool button is clicked, the Find dialog box is displayed. All text of Users Manual or the all builder items can be searched by specifying the search range.

Select either Builder Items or Users Manual as an object to be searched in all text. The following shows the range of builder items and manuals to be searched in all text.

Specifying the Search Character String


Enter the character string to be searched. Multiple character strings can be entered by delimiting them with spaces. If you look for a phrase consists of a number of words delimited by the space characters, this phrase should be enclosed by double quotation marks.

Click [Select] button on Find toolbar to open the dialog box, in which a list of users manuals is displayed. Click [Select] button on the dialog box opened by [Find All] tool button to open the dialog box, in which a list of users manuals or builder items is displayed according to the chosen category.

Check or uncheck the check boxes, the manuals and builder items can be selected. Click [Select All] button will check all the check boxes. Click [Cancel Selection] button will uncheck all the check boxes.

Specifying Options
When the [Options] button is clicked in the Find dialog box for an all text search, the Options dialog box is displayed. Specify the search method and the search range in the Options dialog box for the all text search. The specification items of the options for the all text search vary according to the search object specified.

The following items can be specified using the Options dialog box for an all text search:

The default search option is AND (Matches on all words), so that only the user manual pages that contain all the keywords are displayed. The pages with the matches are extracted. For builder items, the categories that contain all the keywords are displayed. The categories with the matches are extracted. TIP
Also look for file names and Result display cannot be specified when searching all text of a builder item.

Displaying the Search Result


The search result is displayed in a list format in the Search Result dialog box. The display format of the Search Result dialog box varies according to the search item specified. To display the page corresponding to the search result, double-click the desired search result item to be displayed. TIP
To perform an additional search using the search result, click the [Open Find Dialog] button to display the Find dialog box. Select Use the result for narrower find in the Find dialog box, and then start a search after specifying any other search conditions. A new search will be performed using the previous search result.

When searching all text of the Users Manual, the Search Result dialog box shown below is displayed. Once a page is clicked and displayed, the page number link will turn gray in the list. This will be remembered until StoryVIEW is ended. When displaying the matches, the matched pages in Reference manual are always displayed to the foremost. Moreover, the pages in the frequently reviewed Part in the Reference manual are put before the others. And the pages in the more frequently reviewed users manual are also put before the others.

[Open Find Dialog] button

In the list of the suggested keywords on the Search Result dialog box, the words that similar to the original keywords will also be displayed. The suggested keywords will be displayed in suggestion column, the first line holds the originally entered keyword. By default, the first-line is selected and searching will be performed using this keyword. When choosing a suggested keyword, this keyword will be displayed in [Find Another] box. Then click [Open Find Dialog] button, the suggested keyword will be displayed in Find dialog box and searching can be continued.

Furthermore, when searching all text of a builder definition item, the following Search Result dialog box is displayed: Once a category is clicked and displayed, the category link will turn gray in the list. This will be remembered until StoryVIEW is ended.

The searched character string and the text around the string obtained from a PDF file are displayed as the search result after searching all texts of the Users Manual. Single-byte characters other than the ones shown in the following table of standard character codes may be displayed abnormally. Add to Favorites, Organize Favorites


The currently displayed page of a builder item, engineering procedures or users manual can be registered into Favorites as a topic. The corresponding page can then be displayed by selecting a topic that has been registered in Favorites. When Favorites in the menu or the [Favorites] tool button is clicked, all registered topics are displayed in a menu format. Builder items, engineering procedures and users manuals are indicated by icons and displayed as topics in the same menu.

Topics

The topics registered in Favorites are displayed. The following shows the meanings of the icons that are used to display topics. : : : Builder items Engineering procedures Users manuals

The format used to registered topics in Favorites varies according to the item to be registered as follows: Builder item: This is registered by the item name up to the displayed layer level. (Example) [Builder classification] - [Builder name] - [Builder item classification] Engineering Procedures: This is registered by the title name of the table of contents of the Engineering Procedures. Users Manual: PDF file name, users manual name and PDF bookmark are registered. Example: <PDF File Name> - <User's Manual Name> - <Bookmark>

Adding Topics to Favorites


The items currently being selected can be added to Favorites. For the builder items, the items currently being selected in Tree View can be added to Favorites. The information of the item displayed first will be registered even if the display of the builder items is changed by scrolling from the initial display. For the Engineering Procedures, the pages that are currently being displayed can be added to Favorites. However, the information displayed first will be registered even if the display of the engineering procedures is changed by scrolling from the initial display. For the users manuals, choose [Add to StoryVIEW Favorites] from the Plug-Ins menu of Adobe Reader, thus the manual can be added to Favorites. After choosing [Add to StoryVIEW Favorites], a dialog box for adding to favorites displays.

The topic name displayed in the Name field can be edited. However, the identical names cannot be added to favorites list. Click [OK] button, the currently page is automatically added to the favorites.

Organize Favorites
The contents in the Organize Favorites dialog box can be created, renamed, deleted or moved.

[Move to Folder] button

Note: If the selected topic is a PDF file, inside the rectangular frame at right side of window, Topic Name, File Name and Page Label are displayed.

The following describes the procedure used to move the items in a Favorites folder to a different folder: 1. 2. Select an item being displayed under Arrange Favorites. Click the [Move to Folder] button to display the following Move to Folder dialog box.

Displaying History
The operation history can be displayed. When History in the menu or the [History] tool button is clicked, the history is displayed in a menu format. The history items to be displayed include builder items, engineering procedures and users manuals, which are indicated by icons and displayed in the same menu. Moreover, the pages that have been registered in the history and displayed previously can be displayed by selecting the desired history item to be displayed.

History items

The latest history item is displayed at the top. A maximum of 30 history items can be obtained. If the number of history items exceeds 30, the history items will be deleted from the oldest. When exiting StoryVIEW, the latest five history items will be saved. TIP
The item entitled Unknown (Online manual) can be displayed in the history. This indicates the page of the link destination when a link in a Users Manual (PDF) is used or when a link from an engineering procedure to a users manual is used.

For the users manual displayed in Adobe Reader, use the button [Previous View] on the Adobe Reader, the previously displayed page can be opened.

Displaying Help
Click Help in the menu or the [Help] tool button, Read Me First or Using the Online Manual can be displayed.

Start StoryVIEW from Adobe Reader


Click [Start/Activate StoryVIEW] tool button of the Adobe Reader, StoryVIEW can be started. If StoryVIEW is running, clicking this button brings it to the front of the display.

Viewing General Specifications


In the CD-ROM of electronic documents, General Specifications are also included. How to view and search the General Specifications is explained in this chapter. Viewing the General Specifications should be performed on the PC where the Online Manuals are installed.

IMPORTANT
Do not copy the files of General Specifications into your local hard disk, but view the specification directly from CD-ROM.

Viewing
Click CentumGSList.htm file in the following folder on the electronic documents CD-ROM: CS 3000: <CD-ROM Drive Name>: \General Specifications for CS 3000 CS 1000: <CD-ROM Drive Name>: \General Specifications for CS 1000 Then a list of general specifications is displayed. Click a name of General Specification in the list so as to display the details.

Searching
In order to search the general specifications, the index file for searching needs to be added to Adobe Reader. The index file is placed under the following folder in the electronic document CD-ROM: CS 3000: <CD-ROM Drive Name>: \General Specifications for CS 3000 CS 1000: <CD-ROM Drive Name>: \General Specifications for CS 1000 This index file can be added to the Adobe Reader by clicking the [Add to List] button in the dialog box opened from the Adobe Reader. By adding this file, the general specifications can be added to the search list. Detailed procedure to add the index file is as follow: 1. Choose [StoryFINDER] from [Plug-Ins] menu of Adobe Reader. Then the dialog box of StoryFINDER displays.

TIP
If [Plug-Ins] menu does not display on the menu bar of Adobe reader after installing the plug-in program, check the following setting on the Adobe Reader: For Adobe Reader 7.0.0, the option [Use only certified plug-ins] should not be checked for the Preference setting. The option [Use only certified plug-ins] can be displayed by choosing [Preferences] - [Startup] in [Edit] menu of the Adobe Reader 7.0.0. For Adobe Reader 6.0.1, the option [Use only certified plug-ins] should not be checked for the Preference setting. The option [Use only certified plug-ins] can be displayed by choosing [Preferences] - [Startup] in [Edit] menu of the Adobe Reader 6.0.1. For Acrobat Reader 5.0.5, the option [Certified Plug-ins Only] should not be checked for the Preference setting. The option [Certified Plug-ins Only] can be displayed by choosing [Preferences] [Options] in [Edit] menu of the Acrobat Reader 5.0.5.

Click [Add to List] button on StoryFINDER dialog box, then a dialog box for adding new index displays.

On the Open dialog box, the index file corresponding the version of Adobe Reader can be selected. Click [Open] button after selecting the index file. For Adobe Reader 7.0.0, you need to select FindIndex07.dat. For Adobe Reader 6.0.1 or Acrobat Reader 5.0.5, you need to select FindIndex06.dat. The selected index file will be added to the search list. Open StoryFINDER dialog box to confirm that the added index file is selected. When adding an indexed location into the empty list, the added location will be checked for searching as default. However, when adding an indexed location to append to the list, the added location will not be searched unless you manually check its check box.

Enter a keyword for searching. Click [Find] button will start searching for this word.

The searching result will be displayed in the Search Result dialog box. Click an item from the result list; the corresponding page can be opened.

TIP
When searching on StoryFINDER dialog box, no other keyword will be suggested. When [Find From] is designated to multiple locations, the [Select] button on StoryFINDER dialog box will be functioning only for one indexed location.

About StoryVIEW
StoryVIEW is an online-manual viewing program specially designed for CS 1000/CS 3000 electronic documents. With this program, the PDF user's manuals; the engineering procedures and builder items with various types of file formats such as XML, XHTML or HTML can be viewed. StoryVIEW can be operated in a manner similar to Internet Explorer. StoryVIEW has the following main functions: Starts from the Start menu of Windows or by selecting from the Help menu of an engineering window. Displays the builder items and the Engineering Procedures. Links from the builder items to the Users Manual. Searches within the page being displayed. Searches all text of the builder items. Searches all text of multiple Users Manuals by selecting the corresponding files. Registers the page being displayed as a favorite page. Also performs editing such as changes to Favorites item names. Searching within the Online Manual


Searching within the page currently being displayed, searching a builder item, or searching all text across multiple PDF files can be performed by specifying a key word in StoryVIEW. The function that searches all text is called StoryFINDER. StoryFINDER also functions as a plug-in for Adobe Reader. Thus, all the text in the entire Users Manual can be searched using Adobe Reader.

Operating Environment
In order to operate the Online Manual in optimal condition, it is recommended that it be used in the recommended environment. The Online Manual is assumed to be operated under the environment in which the following system and application are installed. The details of the operating environment are the same as those of the operating environment of the CS 1000/CS 3000. Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5 or 6.0 (StoryVIEW only runs with Internet Explorer.) Adobe Reader 7.0.0, Adobe Reader 6.0.1 or Acrobat Reader 5.0.5
