5.1 INTRODUCTION
It should be remembered that remotely controlled systems items of equipment may become
energised without warning. It is therefore imperative to ensure that any such item of equipment is fully
isolated before maintenance work is carried out.

Check gutters, joints, seals and remove any


debris.

If working at height ensure suitable


risk assessment has been carried out.

Check leaf guards are correctly seated.

Check bird guards (if fitted) are correctly


positioned.

Check guttering for signs of sagging.

6 MONTHS

Inspect cast iron and steel systems for any


signs of rust and clean back with a wire
brush.

6 MONTHS

Treat any bare metal areas with a rust


inhibitor.

Check valve for positive shut off and float for


buoyancy.

Check shut off level is correct.

Isolate and dismantle valve. Check vent hole


in body is unobstructed. Replace washer if
damaged or worn. Check arm pivot and piston
for freedom of movement and wear. Check
float is un-punctured
