GENERAL REMARKS
BACKPACK GOLD more than adequately covers all aspects of the three CYLE levels. BACKPACK GOLD offers much greater depth of coverage of vocabulary and grammar than that required in most areas of the CYLE syllabus. This coverage of language is much richer than required but really serves to enhance the language learning experience. There is very good coverage of the techniques and types of task which the children would be asked to perform in the CYLE tests, particularly in the Workbooks which accompany each level, but also throughout the units in the Student Books.

The number in brackets, e.g. (4), refers to the book where the area of grammar is first introduced. The areas of the Starters syllabus which are not covered at all in the Backpack Gold series are highlighted thus There are a few items of vocabulary not covered in the Backpack Gold Books 1 -3 so a little supplementing of vocabulary would be required for Starters to ensure coverage of all the items on the vocabulary list. Teachers may wish to refer to the CYLE lists and add the missing items of vocabulary and grammar to their normal lessons as topic areas are covered.
