Purpose of the Document This document provides limitations, workarounds and best practices that should be followed while implementing BI solution in SAP BI OnDemand environment SAP BI OnDemand is a business intelligence !BI" solution in a software#as#a#service !SaaS" model that helps in getting up and running in minutes $ith SAP BI OnDemand, we can deplo% a business intelligence solution over the $eb # without having to bu% servers or install software It enables in e&tending the insight to customers and business partners immediatel%, without an IT pro'ect 2. Limitations 2.1. On!" #icrosoft S$L Ser%er &ata'ase is supporte& on B(OD. 2.2. On!" )e' (nte!!i*ence +ich C!ient too! an& Cr"sta! +eports is a%ai!a'!e for creatin* BO reports. 2.3. Data Sources for BO Data Ser%ices There are limited data sources supported b% BODS on BIOD The data sources supported on BIOD are flat files !(S) format" and S*+ Server database

)er% limited access !almost no access" is provided to developers on SAP BI OnDemand server The BIOD Administrator is an emplo%ee of the Business Ob'ects OnDemand team who has access to the BIOD administration console A BIOD administrator manages customer accounts, configure virtual machines, and can control the production environment as well as promoting some artifacts to production Because of restricted server access following are some of the issues in BODS and BO ,eporting. There is no admin access to /S*+ Server0 database 1 There is no admin access to Business ob'ects Data Services server Some of the issues while developing 'obs are as followsa (annot create batch ! bat" files on BODI server Since there is no access on BIOD server, developers cannot create batch ! bat file" 'obs on server b (annot access 'obs as batch files ! bat e&tensions" because 'obs cannot be e&ported as bat files at desired locations c (annot kill 'ob from BIOD Admin console

$eb Intelligence ,ich (lient reports are rendered on D5T3+ browser in OnDemand environment ,eports which have multiple blocks with abilit% to drill s%nchronousl% across blocks !with report propert% as 6S%nchroni7e drill on report blocks8" will not behave in re9uired manner when published on biondemand com website So it is suggested to have one block rather than multiple blocks for drilling

$e can publish :celsius dashboard on BIOD either in S$; format or as visuali7ation If we publish S$; file !created using :celsius client" on biondemand com then there is no control on securit% Since user securit% is maintained at <niverse level, there is need to use BIOD visuali7ation to maintain the securit% for the dashboards instead of S$; format S$; format is fine onl% if the dashboard doesn0t need an% securit% and ever%bod% can see the same data

In $ebi ,ich (lient tool, when we save $eb Intelligence report as e&cel sheet, we get two optionsa Prioriti7e the format of reports in the 4&cel document b Prioriti7e an% data processing in the 4&cel document $e don0t get these options after publishing $ebi ,eports in BIOD environment which impacts the formatting of reports saved as e&cel file
