    The Govt. has implemented Jeevandai Arogya Yojna in 1997 to provide financial assistance of Rs. 70,000 for heart, kidney, and brain surgeries to people below the poverty line. While this assistance was intended for surgeries at recognized public and private hospitals, rising costs of disposable equipment meant the funds fell short.     About the Project / Scheme

    The Govt. has implemented Jeevandai Arogya Yojna in the State from 11th October, 1997
    to provide financial help to financially weaker sections of the Society and the people below
    poverty line, for providing Super Speciality Services to such people for treament of serious
    diseases of heart, kidney and brain. These patients can avail medical services for these
    ailments in recognised Govt. and Private Hospitals. In this programme, Rs.70,000/- are
    provided to the beneficiary for getting surgery done in the recognised hospital. But since
    the cost of disposable equipments required for surgery has gone up, the funds provided for
    recognised surgery fall short and as such patients face financial difficulty. To overcome this
    problem, Govt. has decided to start a Surgical Unit in Civil Hospital Kolhapur and this unit
    has been started in the available space of Civil Hospital. The equipments required for
    Cardiac surgery such as Cathlab, Sterling machine, Bedside monitor and Operation table.

    Objectives

    1. Reduction in mortality & morbidity due to brain, kidney & heart diseases.
    2. Financial support to Below Poverty Line patients for heart, kidney & brain surgeries.

    Strategy

    Financial support of 70,000/- Rs. To below poverty line patients for undergoing brain, kidney & heart surgeries at Govt.
    recognized hospitals.

    Activities

    Patient from economically weaker sections can not afford treatment due to increasing
    health care cost. This is true for cost of Heart surgeries, Brain surgeries & Kidney
    transplant since such health care treatment is available at very few hospitals to prove
    these super specialty medical services to economically backward patients Jeewandayee
    Aarogya Yojana was started from 11th October 1997.

    Superspeciality medical treatment to the patients belonging to economically weaker sections in the society at designated
    Government & Govt. recognized private / trust hospitals.
