Practical Information
Valid admission letter by 30 July
Since admission to Danish universities is coordinated on national level, the Admissions Office is not able to make a valid admission letter before 30 July 2013. If admitted you will receive a letter of admission through our selfservice -system UniStart. You must use www.en.unistat.aau.dk to check your application status regularly.

Confirm your study place at www.en.unistart.aau.dk by 5 August


Students admitted to Aalborg University must confirm whether or not they accept their study place. This is done by using www.unistart.aau.dk. Deadline is 5 August 2013.

Order a student ID card by 5 August


At www.en.unistart.aau.dk you can order your student ID card and upload your photo. The student card is an identification card and is valid throughout your time of study. The card has multiple functions such as ID card for exams, access card to university buildings and University Library card.

Information about where to go the first day of the semester, curriculum, book list, how to require access to it-systems and contact persons is given at this site only. Please check the site regularly.

Residence Permit
European students staying for more than 3 months in Denmark have to obtain a residence permit with the State County. It is very important to bring your original letter of admission (letter of enrolment), passport/ID card and proof of health insurance (Blue EU card) upon arrival.

Health Insurance
European students staying for more than three months should bring a European Health Insurance Card (blue EU card) from their local health insurance office. This card is valid until the Danish Health Insurance covers you. In order to obtain the Danish Health Insurance card (yellow CPR-no. card) at the Citizen Service Office you have to have a valid residence permit from the State Administration.

Public Liability Insurance


Aalborg University requests all international students to take out a public liability insurance policy to cover their stay in Denmark.

Personal accident insurance


Aalborg University recommends all international students to take out a personal accident insurance to cover their stay in Denmark. Particularly students with laboratory work should ensure that they have an insurance that covers accidents involving laboratory work.

Arrival in Esbjerg
At www,newstudents.aau.dk more information concerning the arrival is given during May/June. Please note that you have been admitted to the department of Aalborg University-Esbjerg situated in the Southern part of Denmark. Therefore, you must show up in Esbjerg and not in Aalborg.
