Personal Skills I have developed good interpersonal, organisational and problem solving skills. From a wealth of experience I have the ability to work both on my own initiative and as part of a team. Through instruction and encouragement I have assisted others of all abilities to overcome their personal restrictions and fears to achieve new skills. I have vast wealth of creative skills and I am fully computer literate. I have had some experience of retail work, with cash handling and allocation of monies. I am punctual, honest, and trustworthy and considered by others to be reliable and dependable. Personal Statement I would describe myself as an energetic person with a friendly and caring nature. I am happy to take on any task and find it easy to communicate with others. I am not a natural leader, but am happiest when pushing myself to try new experiences and encouraging others. I have always been a hard worker and I am happy working either as part of a team or under my own initiative. I have been comfortable to work unsociable hours and irregular shifts to see the completion of projects. I am an extremely creative person and have followed that passion through arts, crafts and my model making, for which I earned a 2:1 BA(hons)degree. I love the challenge of planning and seeing the projects develop. One of my greatest strengths is problem solving which stems from a childhood pastime of retrospective and 3D puzzles as well as logic solving brain teasers. With a group of friends I regularly take part in quizzes often raising monies for charities. My other interests are baking, cake decoration, cinema, and I am a regular theatre goer. I enjoy water sports and working at an outdoor adventure centre has allowed me the opportunity to gain qualifications in activities like kayaking, sailing and jet skiing. On a recent trip abroad I also completed my advanced PADI scuba diving course. I felt a great sense of accomplishment, as earlier this year I was diagnosed with hereditary Type 1 diabetes, but I have been determined not to let this hold me back. From previous work experience, such as my seasonal work at Stubbers I have gained a wealth of life skills. I have had the opportunity to work with wide and varied groups of people, from young and old. These have included people from all social backgrounds, many with mental and physical needs. I have encouraged and helped those to experience new activities and gain a sense of acheievement, which in turn I find extremely rewarding. Roles that I have covered include health and safety, first aid, organising and preparation of activities. Not only were these physical challenges but included art and craft skills. I also instructed groups on basic survival skills by running bushcraft camps. I have always tried to be open and non-judgemental of people as I believe many people have hidden skills that need to be encouraged and it is lovely to see people develop different directions in their lives. I would like to gain full time employment in an environment where I can use the skills I have, as well as continuing to learn from those around me.
