FlexTk Server is a fully-automatic, rule-based file

and storage management solution capable of
performing file classification and organizing,
storage utilization analysis and duplicate files
detection and removal operations on multiple
disks, directories or network shares according to
user-defined rules and policies.

FlexTk Server runs in the background as a

service and may be controlled using a web-based
management interface, command line tools or a
GUI management application. FlexTk Server is
especially optimized for non-stop, 24/7 operation
and capable of performing all types of storage
management operations in a fully automatic,
unattended mode.
Rule-Based Storage Management
In the automatic operation mode, the user is
provided with the ability to define multiple
managed disks, directories or network shares
and specify operations to perform and
parameters to monitor for each managed
directory. In addition, the FlexTk server allows
one to define one or more actions that should be
executed if one or more of the monitored
parameters exceed the specified range.

The product supports a large number of Windows

and Unix-based operating systems including
Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server
2003, Server 2008, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux,
Fedora Linux, Redhat Linux, etc. and is available
in 32-Bit and 64-Bit flavors for all supported
operating systems.

FlexTk Server is a standalone software product
providing a simplified, yet customizable interface
and allowing one to easily transform any PC-
Based platform into a fully-automatic storage
management solution capable of managing files
on multiple network-attached servers, NAS
devices and enterprise storage systems.
For each monitored parameter, the FlexTk server
collects statistical information, calculates trends
and provides the user with the ability to define
multiple conditional actions allowing one to send
e-mail notifications, execute FlexTk's file
management operations or custom commands,
scripts or batch files.

File Classification and Organizing
The FlexTk server is capable of scanning disks,
network shares and enterprise storage systems,
classifying all the existing files and organizing
them into a categorized file hierarchy.
FlexTk automatically recognizes more than 2000
file types and allows one to browse or export the
categorized file hierarchy, perform various file
management operations on specific files, file
classes or class groups and physically reorganize
existing files according to a user-defined list of
rules and policies.
In addition, FlexTk provides the user with the
ability to write custom file classification plugins
using an open XML-Based Format. The XML-
Based file classification plugins format provides
support for all features available in the FlexTk file
management toolkit and allows one to implement
custom plugins especially designed for user-
specific needs and requirements.
Finally, FlexTk Server allows one to perform file
classification operations periodically at specific
time intervals thus automatically maintaining one
or more disks or directories fully organized
according to user-specific rules and policies.

Storage Utilization Analysis
The FlexTk server provides advanced storage
utilization analysis capabilities allowing one to
analyze one or more local disks or network
shares, identify abnormal storage utilization
patterns, send e-mail notifications and
automatically execute user-defined actions.
The user is provided with the ability to scan
multiple directories, analyze directory structures
and storage utilization patterns, evaluate user-
defined conditions and execute specific actions
when one or more user-defined conditions are
met.
In addition, FlexTk Server allows one to perform
storage analysis operations and execute user-
defined actions periodically at specific time
intervals.
Rule-Based File Search
FlexTk provides powerful and flexible file search
capabilities allowing one to search files using
multiple search criteria including the file name,
type, size, access/modification/creation times,
text or binary patterns, JPEG EXIF tags, etc.
FlexTk allows one to define composite search
queries using multiple search rules and apply the
AND/OR logical operators. Frequently used
search queries may be saved as user-defined
search commands and executed in a single click.
In addition, FlexTk Server allows one to specify a
search condition and a list of actions that should
be executed if the specified search condition is
met. Finally, the user is provided with the ability
to execute user-defined search commands
periodically at specific time intervals or
conditionally according to user-specified rules
and policies.

Duplicate Files Detection and Removal
The FlexTk Server provides a large number of
advanced features and capabilities allowing one
to identify and cleanup duplicate files on personal
computers and enterprise storage systems.
IT professionals and enterprises are provided
with policy-based duplicate files detection and
removal capabilities allowing one to detect and
remove duplicate files in a fully automatic,
unattended mode.
The FlexTk server provides a number of
duplicates removal actions including: replace all
duplicates with a link to the original file, move all
duplicates to a user specified directory and
delete all duplicate files.
Finally, the FlexTk server allows one to execute
duplicate files detection and removal commands
periodically at specific time intervals thus
automatically reclaiming wasted storage space
and removing unwanted duplicate content.
High-Speed File Synchronization
FlexTk provides advanced file synchronization
capabilities allowing one to synchronize files
between directories, local disks and network
shares. The user is provided with numerous one-
way and two-way file synchronization modes,
rule-based file matching capabilities and
advanced performance tuning options.
Moreover, FlexTk allows one to execute user-
defined file synchronization commands
periodically and specific time intervals thus
automatically keeping one or more pairs of
directories completely synchronized.
Finally, the FlexTk Server allows one to monitor
one or more disks or directories and
automatically execute a file synchronization
command when the number of changes in a
directory exceeds a user- specified maximum.

Real-Time Disk Change Monitor
The FlexTk server includes a built-in disk monitor
capable of detecting file creations, modifications,
attribute changes and deletions in real-time. The
real-time disk monitor provides the user with the
ability to monitor one or more disks, directories
or network shares and detect all changes made
in the monitored file systems.
In addition, the user is provided with the ability
to specify conditional real-time actions allowing
one to send e-mail notifications, execute user-
defined commands, custom commands, scripts
or batch files.
The integration of the real-time disk monitor with
user-defined commands opens an unlimited
number of new capabilities such as real-time file
synchronization, real-time backup operations,
conditional real-time change notifications, etc.
For example, the FlexTk's disk monitoring
features used in conjunctions with the file
synchronization or file copy capabilities provide
flexible and effective Continuous Data Protection
(CDP) and real-time backup solutions.
Fault-Tolerant Data Migration
The FlexTk's data migration engine allows one to
copy vast amounts of data fast, efficiently and
reliably. The data migration engine provides
recoverable copy operations capable of copying
ACLs, security attributes, ownership information
and file timestamps.
The data migration engine is especially optimized
for modern hardware platforms, capable of
effectively utilizing fast disk drives, powerful
RAID controllers, multi-CPU/multi-core servers
and Gigabit Ethernet networks and allows one to
copy data at various speeds thus minimizing the
potential impact on running production systems.

Server Management GUI Application Command Line Tools

In addition to the web-based interface and
command line tools, the FlexTk server allows one
to perform all types of file management
operations using a server management GUI
application.
In addition to the web-based interface and server
management GUI application, the FlexTk server
may be controlled using a command line tool.
The server management command line tool is
available in all product versions including FlexTk
Professional, FlexTk Ultimate, FlexTk Server L1
and FlexTk Server LX. The FlexTk's command
line tool allows one to execute and manage user-
defined commands, manage tasks, manage users
and access the server's debug log.

The FlexTk command line tools provide power

users and system administrators with the ability
to automate all the available file management
operations and to integrate FlexTk capabilities
into batch files and shell scripts.
