TRAIN DELAIRED BY SHEEP!
An ntercty tran was derailed n south waes yesterday.
The tran was traveng through a tunne at 160 kometres per hour
when t ht a fock of sheep that was gong n the opposte drecton. The
tran came off the tracks, fe onto ts sde and skdded for another 200
metres before comng to a stop. Fortunatey, nobody was ked, but 28
peope were in0ured, 5 of them serousy.
The poce, fre crews and the ambuance servce were !alled a
mmedatey and they arrved wthn mnutes to rescue the peoe. The
n|ured passengers were taken to oca hosptas. "Its a mrace that t
wasnt a greater tragedy", sad Steven |ones, one of the frefghters.
The tran was on fre. A fre n a tunne s of course a very serous
matter, but ucky t was ony the engne and we put t out very qucky.
Amazngy, the tran drver was not hurt n the accdent. He sad ater:
"As soon as I notced the anmas, I pued the emergency brake, but t
was too, ate". The tunne was damaged and the tran was destro"ed
amost competey. Overa, 2 mon pound of damage was caused
A the sheep except one ded n the crash. The ucky survvor was
res!ued by a poce offcer and now is !alled ucky Lucy. The oca
farmer who owned the sheep has no dea how the accdent happened. "I
have ots of sheep and they are kept n nearby fed whch is
surrounded by a fence.
I dont know how these sheep go out". How ths accdent happened s a
mystery.
