SUBCOURSE OVERVIEW
This subcourse is designed to teach you the philosophy and structure of the Army correctional
system. The lessons contained in this subcourse will enable you to understand the role of the
U.S. Army corrections officer and non-commissioned officer and the management of U.S. Army
detention and correctional facilities.
There are no prerequisites for this subcourse.
This subcourse reflects the doctrine which was current at the time it was prepared. In your own
work situation, always refer to the latest official publications.
Unless otherwise stated, whenever a masculine pronoun is used, both men and women are
included.
TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVE
ACTION:

This subcourse has one examination which covers all the tasks listed in the six lessons. When
you are ready, take the examination. Fill out the Army Correspondence Course Program
(ACCP) examination response sheet and mail it to the Army Institute for Professional
Development in the envelope provided.
