Participants for each retreat are selected at random by lottery from all applications received by that retreats sign-up deadline.

Casting for Recovery

has an annual retreat in southern Idaho every June. The First Annual Retreat took place in June of 2007. At each retreat, fourteen breast cancer patients and survivors from southern Idaho gather together at an idyllic resort in Idaho. These women are introduced to the sport of fly fishing and to each other- a whole new adventure. A staff of fishing instructors, nurses, doctors, social workers and assorted instructors lead these very special participants into the world of rods, reels and recovery.

We need your support...

The gift of Casting for Recovery stays with its participants for the rest of their lives. We are inviting you to join us in giving this gift of hope and fly fishing to these women. In order to sustain the program locally, we are encouraging you to support CFR in any way you possibly can! It costs approximately $1,000 to provide all services to each one of the fourteen participants before, during and after a retreat. Please consider making a tax-free donation of ANY AMOUNT to support the program. What is unique about Casting for Recovery is that all funds raised locally are earmarked specifically for the So. Idaho CFR retreat (ID-1).

During the Retreat Weekend

hope flourishes.
Hope to catch a fish.... Hope to connect with other women & share experiences... Hope for more information & insight about breast cancer & its effects... Hope to hear other womens stories of battles won, remission & recovery... Hope to laugh & cry out loud with empathetic women... Hope for new friendship and sisterhood... And hope to enjoy nature & go fly fishing for many years to come...

Its easy to volunteer...

Casting for Recovery relies on volunteers to help plan & staff its retreats. Enrich your life & the lives of others by helping. There are two basic kinds of volunteer positions - Retreat Planners and Retreat Staff. Volunteers can also help out by tying flies for the retreats & assisting with various administrative & marketing tasks. For the best possible experience, there is a screening & training process. Complete & return the volunteer application found on our web sitewww.castingforrecovery. org. When an opportunity arises, you will be contacted.
