To: Mdm Charan Kaur Organisational Behavior Workshop Reflection A) The organisational Behaviour workshop conducted on the 6th

of July was a very fruitful experience for me. The workshop, which was divided into 2 independent parts, had all of the participants laughing in joy as well as engaging in discussions about certain concepts that were reinforced in the slides. For me personally, I enjoyed the Conflict management workshop a little better than the team building workshop. This was perhaps due to the bubbly nature of our facilitators which helped break the ice amongst students from different class. The facilitators in doing so, helped relaxed and transition all of us into a more open and attentive state of mind; which would otherwise be closed because shyness and the lethargic nature of a Saturday morning. Another aspect of the workshop that was pleasant and enjoyable was the free to roam / easy going pace of the workshop, where bilateral group discussions were encouraged. Problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently, (such as the role playing game in conflict management, and the human chain in team bonding), an aspect that I believe is key in group activities. These soft skills, are not only proven to be useful in organisations, they are also helpful in our day to day activities. (E.g. being able to detect tension and conflict amongst people and thus applying the right tools to dissolve the situation, or to be able to understand trust amongst team mates). And because of the applicability of the skills learnt, this makes the workshop more invaluable it has far reaching and long lasting effects compared to hard sciences or niche topics. In all, the cross transferable skills taught in OB will make us more sensitive to our environment, adapt to changes, as well as to strengthen our theoretical concepts, which aids us in our revision and our coming tests.

B) The workshop was handled very well in general. From a management standpoint, I believe the students participants could feel the efforts of their planning and organising and enjoy the effects from their leading and controlling functions. I would like to touch on a few points that I liked in particular. Time management was very carefully handled in this event, they ran their programmes according to schedule (in most instances) and thus maximised time spent on every station. Delegation of tasks and roles was also very well done in my opinion, each facilitator had a specific role in the workshop, some of them played the disseminator, presenting information to the audience and amongst themselves, while others adopted a friendlier approach such as liaising different groups together to form a more cohesive unit when there was no need for many small groups. There were others who were in-charge of different slides who took up responsibility to make sure what was required was understood amongst us. This made the whole experience very fun and professional. In my opinion it was a very successful programme, however if it was me, I would have perhaps done it differently. For starters, having a clearer objective guideline at the start of activity could prep the applicants for the coming events. Having a form of feed-forward control by asking students what they would expect and a semi decentralised structure to allow for my facilitators to act on what applicants wanted.

That being said, there is little to critique about this years programme as it successful and we should adapt and modify what worked for them to suit our future activities.
