REFERENCES
Any sentence or paragraph taken from a publication is to be given within inverted commas and a reference to it must appear in the footnotes or reference section of the individual chapter. Also a borrowed idea/ concept, etc needs to be acknowledged. 1ibliography is the complete listing of references used in any particular order mostly alphabetical while reference sections appearing at the end of the individual chapters contain references in the order of usage in the chapter. A bibliography may also include other references as suggestive further readings. It is thus not necessarily an acknowledgement of the references, which is taken care by the references in te-t/ footnotes/ endnotes. To be written to the point! a precise and crisp writing is preferred over one that unnecessarily tries to repeat and e-tend the same content. ;owever a report should have full sentences written e-cept at places where point wise data is given. (hort forms should be avoided in a formal report and if used must be e-plained somewhere in the report. The type and si3e of font used should be easily readable and decent in its appearance so as to suit the nature of the document content. Font si3e variations are done to maintain a hierarchy. $ormally font si3es of a written document vary from 6: pt. to 6C pt. for the main content with further increase/ decrease for headings, labels, etc. ;eaders and footers are used to provide information like page numbers, titles, chapters, sub.sections, etc. The use of these separates the main contents from other information, which is to be repeated and probably subdued. These can also be creatively designed including logo, emblem, etc. <sed to separate sections/ chapters/ sub.parts of the report content. There is no need to number them. These can be coloured, with creative images etc. 4roper sequence of the contents should be ensured before binding including all section separators, fly pages, cover page, etc. A few e-tra blank sheets can be included at the end of the report so as to include any comments, suggestions or supplementary information at a later stage. The type of binding depends upon the number of leaflets and the durability/ resistance required. In case of a specified binding format such as in a thesis, it should be strictly adhered to.
