Objective: At the end of the exposure, the Level III students will have acquired a broad concept of illness, skills, knowledge and attitude in the care of sick in all stages of development in a health care setting utilizing the components of the nursing process. Carries out expected behaviour in a very consistent and independent manner with minimal guidance. Carries out the expected behaviour in a consistent and independent manner but requires moderate guidance and supervision. Carries out the expected behaviour in a consistent and independent manner with frequent guidance and supervision. Carries out the expected behavior with errors even with frequent guidance & supervision. Does not carry out the expected behavior even under close supervision & guidance.

I. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE (50%) Utilizes nursing process in the care of assigned clients. 1. ASSESSMENT a. Health history (medical, surgical, gynecologic, obstetric, and pediatric patients) b. Simple physical assessment b.1. Interview/inspection b.2. Interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic tests. c. Analysis of data gathered based on scientific concepts and principles. d. Formulates specific nursing diagnosis. 2. PLANNING a. Identifies/defines with client and family his/her needs/problems. b. Formulates objectives (SMART). c. Involves clients significant others in the plan of care. d. Prioritizes with client and family the identified needs/problems. e. Utilizes available resources in the plan of care. f. Formulate discharge plan. g. Utilizes relevant research findings in the care of sick client. 3. IMPLEMENTATION a. Organizes work according to priority of clients needs/problems. b. Assists and prepares client for procedures indicated to patients in medical, surgical, gynecologic, obstetric, pediatric areas. c. Carries out appropriate nursing interventions and its rationale. d. Modifies nursing approach to meet clients needs. e. Reports and records appropriately all necessary information following agency format. f. Collaborates, coordinates with other members of the health team (physician, medical technologist, social worker, etc). g. Utilizes leadership principles and appropriate style in nursing care. 4. EVALUATION a. Evaluates effectiveness of the total care given based on the objectives formulated. b. Identifies constraints that influence and/or hinders the attainment of objectives. c.
