ITINERARY
13 July 2014 Bike fitting & warm up ride, welcome dinner We invite guests to meet their guide team at the Grenoble TGV station at 1pm. Grenoble is connected by direct high speed train services to Paris, Geneva & Lyon (please contact us for assistance with train travel should you need). From here we will transfer to our hotel located in the beautiful mountain village of Valloire. Located in the heart of the Alps, Valloire is a major ski destination in the winter and a summer playground for cycling, hiking and many other mountain activities. The village is also a favourite of the Tour de France as it is situated on the road between the Col du Tlgraphe and the Col du Galibier. Our strategically located hotels have been selected to ensure that you enjoy the maximum time on the bike with only a couple of short vehicle transfers during the entire program. Following check in at the hotel we will do our bike fitting & setup before our warm-up ride. For those bringing their own bikes, our mechanics will be on hand to assist as you need. On all our rides, you will have the support of our guide team and support vehicles. Guests are invited to ride at their own pace and ride the distance that gives them the challenge they are after. Should you wish to start your ride along the way or shorten the ride, this opportunity is always available. Our tour concept is for each guest to enjoy the ability to find the level of challenge they are looking for, whilst being supported by our staff throughout. Guests will have two options for the first ride. You will have the choice between a ride on the valley floor to the base of the Galibier climb and back to the hotel, or alternatively to get some early climbing, the category 1 Col du Tlgraphe. The Col du Tlgraphe is a 12km climb at an average grade of just over 7%, giving a nice introduction to climbing in the Alps. With the Tour de France taking place North of our location, as will be the case each day, we will also look to find a caf to watch the closing stage of the race live. 14 July 2014
