Spofford Pond CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Be Responsible: Follow directions, stay in assigned area.


2. Be Safe: Walking at all times, keep hands, feet, body parts and other objects to yourself.
3. Be Respectful: Use active listening. No bullying, harassment, put downs, teasing, foul language or
vandalism of property.
4. Be Considerate: Use appropriate voice volume indoors, keep all areas of the school clean, and do not
talk while others are talking.

Tier I
Level I: One warning with a Red Slip.
-Each staff member will have access to red slips. Staff member who gives out a warning slip will circle
offense and give to classroom teacher.
-Classroom teacher is responsible for collecting red slips and following up with Level II consequences,
even if they did not give out the slips.
-Three warning slips within a school day results in Level II action.
-Four or more red slips within one school day results in Level III action.
-For Special subjects: Three Level I offenses in a reasonable time advances to Level II.

Level II: Phone-call or Note home informing parents of infraction.


-If note home, standard form will be used that has a student section to fill out explaining infraction with
parent and teacher signatures.
-More than one Level II offense within one school week is immediate Level III consequence.
-For Special subjects: Two or more Level II offenses within a reasonable time advances to Level III.

Level III: Detention.


-Detention is given with no less than 24-hour notice to family. Will be held one day a week from the
hours of 3:15-4pm.
-Students are to use their detention time for either school community service or restitution involving
apology note, etc.
-Two or more level III’s in one week results in Level IV action.

Level IV: Student sent to Principal’s Office.


-Principal will meet with student to discuss behavior.
-Communication home from principal or parent/principal/teacher conference.
-Principal has discretion to advance his/her consequence.
-Office referral is recorded.

Level V: Suspension. See handbook.

** Severe misbehaviors including, but not limited to; fighting, vandalism, drugs, weapons, going off
school grounds without permission, threats, or any illegal activity will face immediate Level III
administrative action or higher. Student will be sent to office immediately.

Tier II A pattern of Tier I offenses leads to referral to Tier II, Student Support Team (SST). SST
will discuss appropriate interventions to address the offending behavior.

Tier III A continued pattern of offenses leads to Tier III, more intensive interventions or referral
to Special Education.
