What is ASAP? ASAP stands for Accelerated SAP It is the SAP roadmap for the implementation, enhancements, or upgrade of SAP solutions ASAP comprises of different roadmaps and flavors In general, ASAP has 6 phases and their names can be different depending on the type of the roadmap being used
2.
Global Template Roadmap V3.6 Used for more complex implementations or harmonization projects E.g., Global template/global rollouts Covers implementation of the entire SAP Solution portfolio Format: Solution Manager, Online (HTML), and ZIP file Upgrade Roadmap V3.2 Best practices for basic project management, functional, and technical aspects to upgrade an entire SAP system landscape Format: Solution Manager, Online (HTML), and ZIP file
ASAP Implementation Roadmap V.8 Known as ASAP 8 There are five flavors of ASAP 8, as follows: Standard ASAP 8 Methodology Agile ASAP 8 Methodology ASAP 8 for Simplified Rapid-Deployment Solution (RDS) Experience ASAP 8 for Assemble-to-Order (A2O) Project HANA ASAP 8 Methodology
ASAP 8 for Assemble-to-Order is the only ASAP Implementation Roadmap that has only 5 phases. All others have 6 phases.

Introduction to ASAP and its different roadmaps ASAP 8 highlights ASAP 8 structure ASAP 8 navigation and tools Standard ASAP 8 overview Agile ASAP 8 overview Demonstration of standard ASAP 8 and Agile ASAP 8 How to access ASAP 8 Training offerings from SAP Education Wrap-up
ASAP 8 is built on a solid foundation from ASAP 7, with focus on Business Process Management, Application Lifecycle Management, Project Management, and Value Management It also covers traditional areas, such as: Solution management, organizational change management, training, blueprinting, configuration, testing, cutover planning, and execution, among others ASAP 8 delivers updated structured and value-added accelerators as follows: Templates, samples and white papers, processes, procedures, accelerators, checklists, links to standard SAP documentation
ASAP 8 combines the traditional ASAP methodology with the SAP RDS Delivery Methodology and the ASAP Focus Methodology There are over 200 pre-configured services RDS based on ASAP 8 as part of the SAP Rapid-Deployment Solutions Portfolio ASAP 8 has new Quality Gate Checklists for traditional and RDS projects Q-Gates ensure that all deliverables have been completed before moving to the next phase
ASAP Focus Methodology is an implementation roadmap for the streamlined implementation (in 12-14 weeks) of predefined business solutions. It was built from feedback and lessons learned from SAP partners and customers and can be found in Solution Manager.
9
ASAP 8 has comprehensive description of deliverables and associated tasks It helps both project leaders and project teams to focus on information that is highly relevant for their role ASAP 8 has new content (in the shape of Deliverables and Tasks) for Application Visualization built into the methodology
SAP Application Visualization (by iRise) accelerates the development and customizing of SAP prototypes and applications, allowing stakeholders to comment and sign-off early in the design phase

ASAP 8 Navigation
Navigation capability is in alignment with the Lean approach There are 2 layers only: Phases and Deliverables
Tasks and Accountable Roles You will see a demo on this shortly
17
WBS Dictionary: Downloadable Excel Sheet containing the description of all WBS items
List of Accelerators: Downloadable Excel Sheet containing the inventory of all accelerators
Standardization with Lean approach Only 3 layers, which makes it easier to navigate and find things! Each Deliverable and Task will contain information about accountability, delivery mode, etc. Clear definition of ownership (who does what) is very important It can be used as a framework for different deployment strategies More flexibility to use RDS, A2O, Traditional, and Agile Fits all ADM delivery models Gives you the ability to cover different types of SAP implementations, such as Expert-Based, Design-Based, Assemble-to-Oder, Industrialized New look-and-feel and responsive user interface iPad user friendly

Project Preparation Initial planning and preparation for SAP project Business Blueprint The main result is the Business Blueprint, a detailed documentation of the results gathered during requirements workshops Realization Implementation of all the business process requirements based on the Blueprint phase. The system configuration is done as part of 2 deliverables: Core Configuration (baseline/major configuration) and Delta Configuration (final configuration/ remaining scope). The solution is also tested during this phase.
23
Final Preparation Complete the final preparation (technical testing, end-user training, system management, and cutover activities) and resolve all critical open issues Go-Live Support Move from a project-oriented, pre-production environment to live production operation Operate Ensure operability of the solution. Optimize and automate the operability of the solution.
Operate was named Run in ASAP 7.x and did not exist in earlier versions (before ASAP 7.x)

25
Project Preparation Setup of agile project governance, project plan, and schedule Lean Blueprint Rapid setup of validation environment where end users confirm scope and determine delta requirements that will be realized in the next phase to enhance the baseline build of the system Key components are: Lean documentation templates Prioritized product and Sprint backlogs Visualization and solution demo Business-value-centric
26
Realization Implement all the business process delta requirements defined during the Blueprint. The team configures, develops, tests, and documents the solution in series of time-boxed iterations the most valuable functionality first. Before the solution is released to next phase, it is fully end-to-end integration tested and accepted by end users. Final Preparation Similar to Standard ASAP 8 With the addition of deliverable 4.7 Release Closing Go-live support Similar to Standard ASAP 8 Operate Similar to Standard ASAP 8
27
The Product Backlog defines the final scope, whereas the Sprint Backlog defines the scope of the Sprint or iteration
28
The Product/Sprint Backlog template is located within deliverable # 2.11 (Detailed Design Business Scenario #1n) under Lean Blueprint
29
The Sprint closing is a formal deliverable of Agile ASAP 8 under Realization phase (See 3.22 Sprint Closing). Quality Gates (Q-Gates) should be done after each Sprint.
30
Split the larger requirements into smaller user stories that can be delivered within a Sprint of 2-4 weeks. A requirement should not take more than 50% of the duration of the sprint as a rule of thumb in Agile.
