EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION The Position Multicultural Community Service (MCS) seeks an enthusiastic, energetic and growth oriented

nonprofit professional, eager to make a significant and positive difference among diverse communities in Washington, DC. MCS is looking for a leader who, working with the MCS board of directors, can provide strategic and tactical leadership to support its mission and programs, including within the language access communities. The ideal candidate is a practical visionary eager to lead an expansion of current services and explore new opportunities to chartering a new future for the organization. MCS is small and has much potential to grow. The Executive Director is expected to be a leader in the community while competently managing MCS and raising funds as it expands. About MCS MCS is a respected nonprofit founded in 1997 to facilitate civic participation, communication and understanding among the diverse communities in Washington DC. We help to build racial, cultural and ethnic tolerance and harmony. Our clients include public and private-sector organizations seeking meaningful communication with individuals who are monolingual or who have limited English speaking ability. Among its community activities, MCS: facilitates and develops public conversations on topics determined by the community provides skills-building and training provides interpretation and translation services We are located in the heart of Washington, DC's diverse Ward 1, and our board of directors and staff are representative of the richness of our community. Please visit our website: www.mcsdc.org MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall leadership, management and operation of the Multicultural Community Service, ensuring mission accomplishment and sustainability. At the guidance of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides leadership and management for MCS: Board support-operations and administration, including Board development and recruitment; Programs-design, deliver and evaluate programs Fundraising planning and implementation; Multiple year plans-create and implement; Financial sustainability and budgeting; Community leadership-assume leadership in one or more of MCSs communities;

Human resources-oversee personnel; Public relations-promote MCS and its programs; and, Organization development-foster the growth and development of MCS. REQUIREMENTS Essential Bachelors degree in non-profit management, business management, social and/or community services, education or a related field Five years of progressive experience in a related field Three years of experience as a non-profit executive director, director or manager Proven fund raising experience in community settings Passion for serving the community Embrace equality and diversity Experience in non-profit management, human resource policies and procedures for non-profits, developing a growing organization or large program and all legal requirements for non-profit management Desire for and experience in growing a large program or organization. Desirable Leadership experience in a defined community or with multicultural groups and services Proficient or higher in one or more languages other than native language Awareness of the MCS community, research-based needs, and evaluation techniques.
