A Family of Yods and a Marriage in Form

More new formations for the new Millennium

2005 Sally Fisher Note: This article is a summary of work done by the author in collaboration with Linda Shelnutt, (parapsychologist and research astrologer) of Florence, olorado, !S" from #$$% to date& Not long after Linda Shelnutt and I had reached the stage of grou ing our !eystone figures as a family of formations" #e $egan to see other figures in the charts #e #ere loo%ing at indeed #e $oth realised at a$out the same time that #e a eared to $e &ie#ing charts from a slightly different ers ecti&e from most other astrologers' (e #ere loo%ing at the atterns formed in the chart as a #hole $efore #e $egan to analyse the different arts ma%ing u the attern' As a result #e #ere seeing geometric figures" #hich #e then #ere a$le to identify as astrological formations' )hat*s ho# #e found" #ithin a matter of a fe# #ee%s really" a ne# family of e+ual,sided -isosceles. triangles" #hich #e grou ed together as /Yods0' )he classic" or )rue Yod" is of course 2 +uincun1es and a se1tile' )o this form #e added" in increasing #idth of the $ase -or single. angle2 3' 2' 4uintile Yod S+uare Yod 2 $i,+uintiles and a +uintile 2 ses+ui,+uadrates and a s+uare

At this oint #e aused to de$ate ho# to name these forms5 #hether the name should $e that of the short or the long side' As noted in the original article on !eystones" #e #ere not the first astrologers to see some of these figures5 for e1am le Linda has ointed out to me since that Michael 6 Meyer" in his $oo% /A 7and$oo% for the 7umanistic Astrologer0 - u$ 389:." noted the figure #hich #e ha&e called a$o&e the S+uare Yod" along #ith others not generally studied at that time -see Addendum to /List of Formations for the /traditional figures0." $ut stated that most of these #ould $e so infre+uent as to $e not #orth analysing; )hen Linda found" in her o#n natal" a figure #hich she called /)he Sli&er Yod0" or more fomally the /Arc<Inter=ection Yod0' )his figure #as com rised of a narro# semi,se1tile $ase and sides 3>5 degrees in length' (e no# %no# that as #e #ere de$ating #hether or not to include this figure #ith our other /Ne# Yods0 Noel )yl #as #or%ing on his inter retation of this as ect" #hich he e&entually renamed the 4uindecile -see /Arc Angle or 4uindecile0.' In the end #e decided that the Sli&er Yod should $e included" and furthermore as I #rote on ?th August 388?

/Yes , I had noted your comments a$out naming yods $y the as ects on their long sides , trou$le is that the Ses+ui+uadrate Yod is a $it of a mouthful , and #ho #ould $egin to guess #hat #e meant $y an Ina osite Yod; 'esides ( ) like the name Sli*er +od ( it describes it perfectly& "nd to be technical ( either ,uintile or bi(,uintile fits that -particular. +od ( because those are the only aspects that can work together in that way ( so since they all ha*e ,uintile in the name /uintile +od 0ust sounds snappier and ) think would be instantly recognised and defined by any serious astrologer& 1hich really only lea*es the problem of the S,uare +od 2 which (if you want to look at it this way) is a +od trying to be a 3rand Trine& So what we need to do is come up with a name that describes it, links it to the other +ods, and isn4t too much of a mouthful& ) suppose we could call it a 5oorstop +od ( because of its shape ( or e*en a 6ie or Slice +od ( something like that would pair well with the Sli*er +od ( but none of them are ,uite right& ) guess we4ll ha*e to let that one simmer on the back burner&0

@f course" #hile #e #ere #or%ing on it and com romising on /(edge Yod<Ses Yod0 someone else came u #ith the ultra,sna y /)hor*s 7ammer0; Linda summed u the relationshi $et#een them all" after gi&ing a seminar at a local -Aolorado. astrologer*s grou at the $eginning of No&em$er that year2 /'riefly, the main point ) saw, howe*er, is that "LL +75S ha*e not only hoice 6oints but may possibly create 768N)N3S of *arious types depending on the +od in particular& This was cataly9ed by a comment by the astrologer in my "N3, who noted in my seminar that she had read that a particular +od to her chart meant that her husband would die& ) groaned at this type of :astrology: found in many te;ts& She said that what it <8"LL+ meant was that the marriage would die (di*orce&) ) wanted to say that no +od determines death of anything, merely a Fork in the <oad, which may be cataly9ed by a death, but not N8 8SS"<)L+ indicating a death& 'ut, time got in the way, and that tangent was one too many among others, so ) let it go for the time and mo*ed on& 'ut, when ) got a hit that the Ses+od was an :768N)N3: of sorts, kind of like a 1orm =ole > )F we had this capacity now, the Ses+od would point to?create that type of opening between worlds so to speak, e*en though we4re not really crossing realities, merely space to another far away part of our physical !ni*erse& The Ses+od may also represent openings across realities, but later for that, also& Then ) looked at the other +ods, feeling that they created openings, too& The True +od does, from my intuiti*e present determination, represent the link between soul and body, and as such, represent the opening to :the other side: or to free the spirit from the body as in 5eath& )t does not "!S8 or <8/!)<8 a death, merely makes the possibility somewhat a*ailable& The Sli*er +od we4*e already discussed as creating an opening into a closed system for a @foreign: ob0ect or entity to gain entrance, either to be accepted or :spit out: so to speak& Then the /uintile +od&&& possibly this creates the opening into the creati*e parts of the o9one where :muses: (or whate*er stimulates the flow of creati*ity into and out of a person) resideAAA0

(e had already noted t#o formations that #e had descri$ed as /interce ted %eystones0 #here the long side of a %eystone #as $isected $y a oint that #as the focus of one of these ne# yods' In the case of the 6osetta" of course" this #as an e&en more interesting form" inasmuch as ha&ing an interce ting oint roduced not one $ut three )rue Yods all interlin%ed #ith the focus of the t#o yods #ho shared the central -focus. $eing the t#o $ase oints of the Yod that focussed $ac% on the interce t oint' -see diagram. )his focus and tighter focus led me to name this formation the Satellite Bish' And #hen #e sa# a se+uence of Se1tiles across a chart from a ),S+uare this naturally $ecame an Ariel;

After this $rief gallo through some of the Formations Families that Linda and I ha&e seen" it #ould erha s $e fitting to go $ac% to the $eginning of all this' (e are not the only astrologers doing this sort of #or%' It has $een art of astrology for as long as #e ha&e records' Cut among more modern astrologers #e #ould articularly li%e to highlight the #or% of Michael 6 Meyer -see a$o&e.'

As Linda has #ritten to me only recently2 /K' ) gratefully and respectfully acknowledge the intense significance of BeyerDs work on Formations& +ou and ) understand too well the timing and time limitations which necessitate forcibly cutting off (dammingA) the natural e;pansion of this type of geometric (astronomical E e;ponential) wa*e into tangents and outlets from which there might be no return in a particular indi*idual4s lifetime& Beyer was clearly working to maintain sense and sanity when he assumed that the actual occurrence would be minimal of potential Formations beyond those he listed with detailed descriptions& +ou and ) ha*e noted to each other many times that we felt as if we4d slipped into what could ironically be called a well of chaos with more and more and more Formations emerging, spotted repeatedly in daily occurrences, a wellspring which could hold us enthralled for a lifetime, possibly beyond and before& Beyer rode his :assignments: beautifullyF hopefully, you and ) are doing the same for ours& ) would like to publicly thank Beyer for his enormous and o*erwhelmingly significant contributions to the study, cataloguing, and e;posure of "strological Formations& =is =andbook opened the door (which was a magical, nearly sacred initiation for me) for my use of Formations as the basis of my "strological research from #$%G to present day&0
