A.

Purpose and Scope To develop and design structures for applications such as offshore topsides, modular buildings, trailers, tanks, skids, equipment frames, containers, cargo baskets & other mobile structures, that will withstand the operating and transportation loads likely to be incurred during their life-cycle which meets customer & regulatory requirements and operate effectively, efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities and Duties Prepare and approve structural designs through the application of international codes and simulation of expected operational and environmental conditions using mathematics techniques & software to calculate the stresses and deflection that could arise in a structure utilizing materials such as high & low yield carbon steel & stainless steel to meet the statutory and regulatory requirements during transportation and installation. Development and review of calculations, general arrangements and detailed fabrication drawings for use by other discipline engineers and site personnel to allow simple, quick and clash-free site installation. Selection of appropriate materials, including steel grade, profile type and operating temperature which satisfy the project needs, typical hazardous marine environments in extreme weather areas, to ensure a safe & legal solution. Work closely with the architectural, electrical, HVAC and piping engineers in the placement and sizing of structural elements to allow equipment, services, future maintenance & handling and considered to allow easy installation and long-term operation by the end user. Participate and propose solutions as a part of HAZOP/HAZID studies related to the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken to provide regulatory & statutory compliance and a safe design. Identify, suggest and implement new methodologies using the latest industrial safety practices in order to enhance the marketability and sales potential of current and future products.

Organisation Relationships Reports to : Project Manager Direct Reports : None Location : Initially located in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE and will be shifted further to anywhere as per project requirement Travel The role shall be primarily office-based, though local site visits and international travel may be required

Job Specifications 1. Qualification, Knowledge, Experience a. Academic Qualification University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent b. Professional Qualification Membership to institute of structural engineers (IStructE), Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST), Offshore Engineering Society (OES) or similar is preferable c. Experience (minimum preferred) Graduate Engineers: 10-15 years relevant experience in structural design of offshore steel structures, transportable equipment skids, or related industries Diploma Engineers: 15 years relevant work experience in structural design of offshore steel structures, transportable equipment skids, or related industries 2. Technical Requirements Working knowledge of Standards and International Codes Including AISC, API, ISO and Eurocodes Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Staad, Ansys, Sacs or similar structural analysis software 3. Key Competencies a) Behavioral Analytical thinking Confident Team player b) Technical Excellent command of the English language in bottom written & speech, and communication skills An ability to engage all levels within a team environment Ability to communicate complex concepts well, diagrammatically, in speech and writing Effective analytical and problem-solving to anticipate identify and resolve problems at any stage
