very illustrious and glittering career of the Retiring Gen-
eral. He mentioned, “Gen Fazl-i-Ilahi was commissioned
in 20 EME Bn/FWO from where he posted to 80 EME
Bn/6 Armd Div and College of E&ME as instr Cl ‘C’ and
then served in 502 Central Wksp EME. The Gen Offr got

he was posted to 93 EME Bn/37 Div. Subsequently he
served as Dy Asst Dir ITD, Assistant Director ITD and
then proceeded abroad for MSc at USA. On prom to the

completion of his asg at EME Dte, the Gen Offr was
posted to HIT where he had a tenure of 3 years as Dir

Youth Crime – causes

Needless to say, youth
crime is rampant in our
society today. Unfortu-
nately though, the modus
operandi in dealing with it
has simply been to shove
it under the carpet because
the crimes that relate to
the youth are usually of
little tangible conse-
quence, and ‘matters of
greater national impor-
tance’ are there to attend
to. Sixty or so years
should have taught us that
although ignoring such a
matter might appear insig-
nificant in the short run,
such a policy should ac-
crue disastrous results
become the future.
The obvious and some-
what natural response to
crime is punishment. Pun-
ishment serves as a lesson
to the perpetrator and acts
as a deterrent to everyone
else from committing the
crime. All fine, but what
of the punishment that
never attempts to set
things right? What of pla-

an urgent need to under-
stand things right: Punish-
