He considerably rose the public spending. He contracted a very

high debt for the government. He was responsible for the first
economic crisis after the “Mexican Miracle”. His economic policy is
remembered for being corrupt and inefficient. He raised external
Economic Policy debt.

He spent too many in things the country was not able to pay at
that time. His anti – inflation policy was maintained during all his
Economic Policy period, but at the end of it he had to accept a big devaluation.

the National Bank. He established relations with North America
Economic Policy and signed the TLC.

Education USA.

Entered the PRI party in 1971. Worked at the Banco de Mexico

and the SHCP. Named secretary of budget during Carlos Salina’s
period. He was not the primary candidate for the presidency, the
original one was Luis Donaldo Colosio, but he was murdered.
Political Career Elected as president of Mexico in 1994.

When he assumed the presidency, the country was in a critical

economic crisis, globally called as “el efecto tequila”. The parity
peso – dollar was controlled during the period of Salinas, but
suffered a disparity when Zedillo assumed the charge. He founded
a fond to protect people of their debts. During his period Mexican
Economic Policy economy rose.
